This statue stands in tribute to Robert Clive, 1st Baron Clive of India, a British officer of the East India Company and soldier of fortune who established supremacy of the Company in Bengal.

The bronze statue depicts Major-General Robert Clive in military uniform with a sash underneath his jacket. In his left hand he holds the handle of a sword with the point resting on the ground. The statue sits atop a plinth with his name of the front and three bronze relief sculptures depicting scenes from this life in India. The siege of Arcot, Clive in the mango tope on the eve of Battle of Plassey and Clive receiving the grant of Bengal.

A nice statue and worth a look if visiting the nearby Churchill War Rooms or just near the Horse Guards Parade.

We just happened to pass this statue on the way to the Churchill War Room from the Horse Guards Parade. The Bali Bombing Monument is at the base of the stairs and this statute is on it. It is quite a nice statue which faces St. James Park.
