It's amazing the difference between Matt at Help With Hounds than others we have used. He is kind, understanding and has helped us so much. From being told to wear a halti at the last trainers to being able to teach my dog to walk nicely on lead with just a harness is brilliant and I'm glad we used him.
This is a proper dog trainer and the messaging between sessions is really appreciated. Highly recommend and I will use Matt again should we ever need to. 10/10

We've been working with Matt to train our Deaf Australian Shepherd in 1-2-1 sessions over zoom and in person.
We were struggling with severe separation anxiety, lead pulling, car chasing, reactivity, nipping... You name it, we were struggling with it!
Within just a few sessions, and a couple of back and forth WhatsApp messages we were starting to get where we needed to be.
A plan in place to help the separation anxiety, which has seen our Aussie really calm down.
Understanding her behaviour, her triggers, her enjoyment. It now allows us to have a happy life with her.
We were feeling confined to our home, and didn't know where to turn. We felt we were failing our dog by not knowing how to help her.
Matt has absolutely changed our lives with his training and guidance, guiding our dog on how to behave but mostly training us on how to set her up to succeed.
We can leave the house and have a successful walk without fear of issues. We can leave her at home alone for short periods of time without causing her stress.

He has given us the tools we need to carry on and have the best life with our dog, and he did so without judgement on where we'd ended up.

I cannot recommend Matt enough, it's been life changing!

After getting a golden retriever puppy and not having had a dog before, I really needed to find puppy training classes to make sure the foundations were secure (for me as much as the puppy) as I didn’t know what I was doing.
The 6 week course in Copford was the perfect intro to basics and Cooper and I really got loads out of it.
The principles Matt taught us are what we use daily. Thanks Matt for a great course; I’m sure we’ll be back again!

Matt's approach to training is fantastic, he's extremely calm both with the dogs and their humans. 1-2-1 training is guided around you and the dog, he provides clear instructions on why behaviour may be occurring and how you rectify it. My dog is 3yrs old and ruled the house, barking at anyone or anything that walked passed the window, barking at other dogs on walks (not in aggression, just to play, but not everyone liked the barking). After 2 sessions and a month’s long 24/7 help, and that's without all the guides you're given to help you along the way to practice, I can honestly say I now love my daily walks with Alfie - he's more chilled, sits when asked and just watches other dogs walk past all to the sound of ..... silence. Would definitely recommend Help with Hounds (Matt) there is nothing he doesn't know about dog behaviour.

I cannot recommend Matt highly enough.
He is calm, patient and very easy to work with and understand. As a first time puppy owner who had no idea how to integrate our much wanted pup into our lively family home, I found his methods very logical and easy to follow. He has taught us how to understand our pup and to see life through his eyes, which has hugely helped with the bonding process. Most importantly of all, Matt’s methodology is 100% based on positive reinforcement, with care and respect for our dog being at the heart of everything he teaches. This is exactly what we wanted to find in a trainer, and I am so grateful that we found him. You will not be disappointed.

We booked a few sessions with Matt as we were looking for a trainer who only uses positive training methods.

We took on a young rescue vizsla (Albert) a few months ago, who had clearly had a bit of a rough time in his previous home. He was very reactive and insecure, but with a really gentle and loving nature underneath this, and we wanted his training to reflect this.

Matt has a really kind manner and helped us work with Albert in lots of ways, helping him to make some better choices, to be less reactive and more attentive to us. Matt won't make you feel stupid for all the things you're currently doing (wrong!) and will set you and your dog on the right path.

We still have a long way to go with Albert but he's a different dog to the one we met only a few months ago. This is in part, due to the tools that Matt has given us, as well as explaining what we're doing and more importantly, why.

I would avoid any trainer who tells you that sticking a slip lead, prong collar and punishing etc. is the way to help a dog, and give Matt a call instead. You won't regret it.

Came to Matt with behavioural problems. He was very knowledgeable, listened carefully and read through all the history. Matt helped us understand the psychology of our dog and understand triggers, body language. Had individual sessions, one in a field with Matt’s dog and group sessions. Group sessions were adapted to suit the different personalities. Matt provides us with tools and confidence, would highly recommend!
