Large nature reserve with an extensive network of footpaths leading through open fields, pleasant woodland and coppice plantation.
Great views of the chalk downland and Medway valley in various places, and from the higher fields local landmarks including Rochester Castle and Cathedral and the Great Lines naval memorial are all clearly visible.
Worth visiting at any time of year, but best in late spring and early summer when the bluebells, rare orchids and poppies are at their peak. Also good for golden colours in late autumn.
Walks can be extended by crossing the local railway line to the Bush Valley, or leaving the reserve and heading out to Cobham Woods and Mausoleum.
The parking area only has a few spaces so can fill up quickly when the weather's good. If it's full, the Bush Valley walk in Cuxton is a good alternative nearby.

Wonderful views and fantastic plants. What more could you ask for. As Plantlife's flagship reserve as well as a working farm, it shows what can be achieved. A mix of woodland and farmland, with wild flower meadows and crop fields, as well as areas of chalk grassland, there is something for everyone. There is a small car park at the entrance near the main road. This is a hilly reserve with a network of mostly dirt or grass footpaths with the occasional farm track. The going can be uneven and muddy, especially in winter, and many of the paths are not easily accessible for those with restricted or reduced mobility.

Lovely nature reserve with plenty of long walks. Being in the downs the paths can be steep. Paths were good in May. Parking can be a problem as the small car park off the main drag is always full. You can find street parking and walk under a rail tunnel.

Its a beautiful nature reserve and you could be almost anywhere except the Medway Towns!! There are Highland Cattle and Deer to be seen in this most natural landscape of acres of land.

Wild flowers to spot and a Bluebell Wood in Spring. The place is most enchanting in all seasons and gives a haven of tranquility and peace.

Ranscombe is a fantastic place to visit and to walk in. Plantlife, the management group do a super job with the management. There are walks to suit everyone, with amazing views over the Medway valley and the Kent Wheald. The flowers are simply incredable. Attached are some of the spectacular wild flowers that grow in the wild flower meadows and the hedgerows.
