Every single one of the staff in the Sapling Antenatal Department, and the Darent midwifes that do outreach, are incredibly caring, go above and beyond and are super polite, cheerful and efficient. Not to mention just the most patient and understanding women ever. I have felt incredibly well cared for medically and emotionally supported in all of my dealings with them. Thank you to them all! A&E ……You enter this hospital as you enter a casino and play the roulette wheel,Wednesday Evening 20:30 9hrs in A&E ,6 Hrs laying in a corridor after the 9 hrs in a little Bay then 3 hrs in a ward that the poor sister didn’t want me there as she couldn’t offer the proper conditions, finally moved to another ward with own room and toilet then 6 hr wait for 10 antibiotics to take home with me Friday Evening.
I’m currently receiving chemo and immunosuppressant,I carry a card to present at the desk with the names of chemotherapy I’m on and if entering with high temperature should be seen and administered antibiotics within an hour .
Had a temperature of 38:3 went to the desk at A&E was told to go a find a place to sit down in waiting room and try to keep away from people ? then had to wait to see a triage nurse told to go sit down .?
2hrs later was called to little both where my wife and I had ti stay the night until 6am and administered antibiotics within, steroids and paracetamol..then another doctor come to see me and told me I’m not going for at least 3 days ( had to write the names of the chemotherapy as she hadn’t heard of one .At 6am was told I’m being moved to the corridor to wait for a bed at the very end next to the exit and enter doors which was more busy than Euston Station with staff coming and going to start shifts and the movement of patients.two porters came at Midday to say they taking me to a ward ( I’d already told the doctor and nurse first thing of the names of wards they recommend) got to the ward and Bed only for after few hrs the really really nice sister came to speak and said I shouldn’t be here and she’d found a ward with a side room and own toilet as I’m immune suppressant .
This Hospital is seriously broken, while the Nurses 90% run round to try and offer the best care they possibly can you have doctors and Admin staff making decisions without any care or priority
Every doctor I met had no information or Action plan .
You enter A&E and buy a lottery ticket.

Absolutely horrible hospital with 0 care for patients . If I could I would give 0. Put my daughter in wheelchair due to negligence and not wanting to actually look what is wrong. Have destroyed our family life and taken away my daughters quality of life. Avoid if you don't want to end up much worse also most staff, except for very few rare ones, seem to enjoy inflicting discomfort and basically torture patients.also lie about what tests been run and about test results . Most of them don't read anything in patient file and just gaslight sick person instead

Despite the very long wait at A&E (understandable with many emergencies coming in over the night, and a hospital that serves a very large population), I received incredibly professional and caring medical attention, with a follow-up call, and an invitation to get specialised investigations the following day! The hospital is clean, welcoming and has a good selection of shops for food, and entertainment (books/magazines/games etc). Thank you to all the staff who work so tirelessly for us.

Went in for treatment due to referral from my GP and was shocked at how long it took to be seen, as a hypertensive patient with breathing problems and nausea. People who turned up after my arrival were seen to and even when I complained to the receptionist I was told 2.5 hours wait wasn’t long enough for a not so busy day, I must wait 3 hours to be acknowledged by the doctor. I had to leave without any medical help after waiting another 1.5 hours after my complaint. I felt safer at home than at the emergency centre as I was dehydrated and starving while having dizzy spells.

A big shout out and thank you to Dr. Iqbal and his team in the Endoscopy Department for their kindness and professionalism throughout what I was expecting to be, an horrendous experience. On the contrary, throughout the two step system, week 1, pre-assessment, week 2 procedure, I was met with nothing but kindness and efficiency with everything explained and all my fears calmed. So a huge thank you to the whole department, from the nice receptionists and all the nurses, especially to the kind nurse who booked me in and took care of me throughout, to the wonderful Dr. Iqbal who magically took away the pain I have been experiencing for years. Darent Valley has much to be proud of, not least this amazing department.

Public Note of Discontent and Outrage

I hereby express my absolute disgust and frustration regarding the inhumane treatment and neglect experienced during an outrageous 8-hour wait at the hospital, just to receive basic medical attention. This is not just a matter of inconvenience; it is a blatant disregard for human dignity and well-being.

It is unacceptable that a health institution, supposedly dedicated to caring for people in need, would subject patients to such extensive delays. People come to hospitals because they are vulnerable, in pain, and seeking immediate care—not to be treated with indifference and negligence.

The lack of organization, communication, and respect for those in need of help is a serious failure on the part of the hospital’s management. This is not just a terrible experience for one individual but a systemic issue that must be addressed. It is beyond comprehension that in an institution meant to save lives, patients are forced to endure hours of discomfort, anxiety, and deteriorating health while waiting for treatment.

We demand immediate action to improve the efficiency, professionalism, and overall quality of service. No one should have to experience such humiliation when seeking medical attention.
