I've been going for walks from the Ditchling Beacon car park for years. Have seen many a wonderful, breathtaking sunset. Only a few hours ago I've returned from a walk that I will remember for the rest of my life. The photos speak for themselves. It's a great place with amazing views. There's a dog waste bin in the car park, which every dog walker will appreciate. There's sometimes a bit of a problem finding a parking space, but then there is another (although very dilapidated car park at the bottom of the beacon, only about 15 minutes strenuous walk uphill)

2nd time I've walked here as part of 2 different circular walks. This time from the University with my son and his friend. Too late for the coffee van in the car park alas. The previous time, we didn't park in the car park but found a (free) lay-by down a "nearby" quiet country road and walked the mile or two. Nice views and pleasant rolling countryside.

Highest point of the South Downs. Fresh air, lots of open space, easy walking routes and stunning views. Great place for a relaxing day out of London.

Ditching Beacon is stunning. Whether you're walking along the top (which is an easy gentle slope for most abilities) or whether you choose to go down to the villages below, or climb up the famous Beacon, which takes a bit more effort, it's a very worthwhile place to come. On a good day you can see for miles and miles towards the North, and spot some local Sussex vineyards in the valley below. Popular with bikers, hikers, runners and walkers. Dogs are allowed to come here, but on a lead, as there is frequently cattle grazing along the top. Parking is generally easy in the Beacon car park, except on really busy days. There's typically an ice cream can in the car park selling cold drinks and ice creams, lollies etc.

Some of the best views and wildlife on the South Downs. There's a pay car park, often an ice cream / coffee van and at weekends a bus service from Brighton that takes bicycles. Check buses.co.uk for details.

Was walking through today on the South Downs Way, but there is a National Trust car park. Great views and ice cream!

Most of way up by car but there is quite a bit of uphill walking on a rough flint path. Did not go right to the top but the views were fantastic. Good car park.
