Great history carparks are £15 but a lot to see. There are lots of play things for the kids on walks. The river seems to be a great place for paddling. The site is free to enter. Was fairly busy when we came, and the stepping stones were full. But with beautiful scenery and peaceful places to sit that wasn't a huge problem. The paths have been very well kept and therefore happy yo pay the parking charges. It's worth a visit anytime of the year.

Shallow waters allow some swimming and stepping stones are fun for walking across /bridge available too.
The Strid is fascinating. The red tinged water due to peat in the area.

The grounds of Bolton Abbey are maintained to a really high standard. It's a popular tourist attraction & can get extremely busy at certain times of the year. There is a large car park, although parking isn't cheap. A gift shop is situated by the car park, which sells a good range of gifts & ice cream.
