This is an amazing little place. Not only is it in a beautiful Tudor building, but is also has a seed bank and a 'pay-what-you-feel' system where you can buy up to 3 books a day. I never leave without a book...or three.

A second hand book shop in a beautiful old building that invites you to pay what you think your chosen volume is worth.

It's been around for ages, so this unusual arrangement obviously works.

Lots of books on two storeys. The game here is to sort through them. One person's rubbish is another's gem, and you have to find your gems.

Books seem to turn over rapidly (maybe one of the reasons that the place works so well) so there's always something new.

If you are a book nut drop in and look. Regularly, if you can. It's our kind of fun 🙂

So I’m back in the city four the first time in seven years. I’m a huge book worm and reviewer and love to support independent book sellers where ever I tend to find myself on my travels.

I came ere with a friend and loved the place. You get to decide the price you pay and you can purchase up to three books a day.

My friend picked up two, on on my recommendation and i picked up just the one.

Staff were amazing, very welcoming, chatty and friendly. An amazing amount of books well organised.

I also purchased a huge pine cone as I love the meaning that a pine come represents of rebirth and enlightenment.

I will come here again when next in the city.

Very cool concept, it's a pay what you want place to borrow books. So how's it different from a library? Different collection of books, much more esoteric I'd say, you're not coming here to pick up the latest Dan Brown. Got a cute reading spot upstairs for a rainy day.

The place took me to a previous century without any overwhelming smell of old books. Max 3 books per person and only accept cash.
Good collection and you could spend hours there.
The elderly lady who was at that time, running the shop, not overly obtrusive as other people say.

This is such an amazing book shop! It's one of my favourite places to visit in Exeter (and the only donation-based book shop I've ever seen)! It's definitely worth a visit, even if you're not after a new book to read.
