2024 is the 100th anniversary of the Miner's Welfare Hall. The hall can be hired out for functions and events. It is in the centre of the Main Street opposite the Factory Shop.

We paid a visit for the fundraising event for the RNLI. They had several stalls selling stationery, which is my grandsons favourite thing to collect right now. They also had chutneysand jams, cakes, knitted items, and other craft tables.

They had offerings of hot and cold drinks and a seating area.

You can visit their online page for upcoming events and information on how to book the hall.

It is a typical village hall with a good-sized stage. Small kitchen for catering needs and toilet facilities. There is an upstairs level, but I am unaware of what is up there.

We have been there for children's birthday parties and craft events. I believe the Women's Institute holds meetings there, and there is also a repair café that is free, and people can help show you how to fix your broken items.

There is disabled access, but parking will need to be done in the local car parks that are free of charge but time restrictions on the closest one.

This community association building is surprisingly well-kept and clean. There is a toilet for people with a disability and other toilets too. The flooring is wooden with a glossy clean appearance. There is a kitchen, main space for dance or other large group activity, a stage and marked fire exits. Parking is too limited, the building itself is just off Main Street so you could try the other parking not too far away. Unfortunately too no WiFi access so use your own unlimited provision if you want to access the Internet. Any chance of upgrading the hall's facilities to embrace technology? Having said this, I feel this is a great venue for communities.
