I last visited this simple hostel in 1972 as a young member, so a return visit was long overdue! The hostel stands in delightful countryside on the Polden ridge just south of the small town of Street, and is self-catering only, no meals provided.|My room on the first floor overlooked the front of the hostel, with lovely views to the side.|The building is constructed largely from timber, which does look charming but it does creak quite loudly when people move around, particularly the couple in the top room above me who woke and started moving constantly round their room at 5.45 AM. This is not the fault of the hostel of course but did spoil my enjoyment somewhat.|If I stayed here again I would ask for the top floor room!

Have been using this hostel for a few years now and the standards remain high as always. Was lovely to see it populated with families on this visit but it caters to all ages. Everyone is respectful of each other and you feel very safe here. The cleanliness of all rooms and outside areas is exceptional, especially when you consider that this is all done by volunteers. Have stayed in 12 YHA hostels and this is one of our absolute favourites. Huge thanks to every single volunteer who makes our stay here possible, your impact is long lasting.

Lovely location up on the hill above Street, very near Glastonbury. Very friendly, helpful staff on duty. Boys did some folding of linen, which they enjoyed. Stayed in one of the two wooden camping pods in autumn school half term (very snug and warm) and used the self-catering kitchen. Beautiful misty views over Somerset in the morning, with Glastonbury Tor appearing majestically through thee low clouds in the distance. Had a nice walk along the ridge to an old windmill. You can walk down to Street. Don't try driving up the narrow unmade track to the hostel (liable to scrape bottom of car on the grass between the tyre tracks). Park in the little carpark up behind the hostel instead. Very short walk from there to the pods.

I visited with my two boys (2&6) it was absolutely fantastic. The kids just played outside with other kids. The place was spotless and modern. Pleasantly surprised & wanting to visit more.|||Top tips |-|Visit mill way farm to get some Local produce!|Lots of places to explore|Locally.|Glastonbury / Glastonbury tor / Somerset rural museum / Haynes motor museum / green bank outdoor pool / clarkes village.||All really close by.

Lovely old building with comfortable dorm rooms. Kitchen very well equipped for families with large comfortable dining room. The walks nearby are lovely and Street is easily accessible. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay.

YHA is an awesome little hostel. We stayed for 3 nights over easter April 24.||The rooms were absolutely spotless and the bedding decent condition as always.||All the staff we met were awesome and friendly and we had no problems whatsoever.||There is no TV so socialising in the evening is part of the fun. Our kids instantly made friends with other kids and we were chatting with the parents. We all played cards together and chatted away until bedtime.||The hostel does not have a licence, unlike other hostels, so you are free to bring your own booze and enjoy at your leisure. Also they do not sell any meals at all, it is entirely self catering. There is a Mcds a few mins away plus chippys and restaurants and pubs in street. ||While staying there we went to Stonehenge, which was an hour’s drive away. Glastonbury was interesting and we also visited Burnham on Sea for the amusements.

I didn't think hostels like this still existed. Surprisingly close to Glastonbury. Definitely want to come back, shame it isn't open longer.

Bike club rented whole place. Great surroundings , rural and quiet. Too far to walk to pub so bring your own beer. Narrow metal bunks but slept ok. Spotlessly clean. Nice balcony and places to sit outside. Kitchen fine , well equipped. Street is something or nothing but Glastonbury and wells nearby. Warm. No complaints especially for the money.
