Stayed at the Kings Head for one night on the Winter break deal. The service was friendly and efficient on arrival and remain so throughout our stay. We enjoyed our evening meal in the warm and comfortable bar. Breakfast was good but could have had a better continental selection. The room was a little too warm and there were a few things that needed attentions such as the toilet flush and the shower head. Otherwise the room was clean and comfortable. All staff friendly and seemed to work extremely hard. We would definitely return.

Set in a quaint village this Inn seems to be on a roll. Each time I have been there, even at lunchtimes the place is busy and buzzing. Great service, fab food, (new head chef I hear), cosy atmosphere and a covered family friendly area outside. The accommodation (separate building) looks good. Don't forget to log your car registration at the bar to get free parking.

Very dissatisfied with our stay.would recommend going elsewhere to spend your money.accommodation wasn’t to bad, yes the toilet that took 10 attempts before it flushed was a little annoying and the road noise was a little loud but was ok. Room was clean parking was good.|The big let down was the restaurant. Didn’t have anything on the menu, no potato skins,no venison, no steak. Didn’t even have tomato sauce for breakfast the following morning.|I Ordered the burger reluctantly.should have came in a brioche bun and it didn’t. The burger was that thin I checked it was actually there, should have had coleslaw but didn’t come with that either. Thought dessert would redeem the chef but it didn’t, crumble was a watery mess. Custard was nice though.|My Partner had steam pudding well freezing pudding would have described it better. Almost frozen in the middle. Puddings were not eaten.|The waiting on staff that evening were atrocious, lad with black hair had no manners or professionalism at all, ginger haired lad was no better. They just wanted to sit at the bar and do nothing as everything you asked seemed like a major chore to them. |The head of house a young woman was good though and was helpful as was the manager the next morning.|Reason given for having no meals on the menu was, having only one internal butcher supplying all the inns meant there was supply issues with game and meat deliveries .Must be the other supplier that has. Issues with, coleslaw, buns, potato skins and tomato sauce though.|DEFINITELY GIVE THE RESTAURANT A MISS ITS USELESS!|This stay was a birthday get away trip and was a big let down.we will not return or recommend anyone else to stay there either.|We use the Hogg’s head in Alnwick regularly and have had no issues there so I would recommend you stay there instead.

Words Fail Me .||Used to love the experience of going here with my partner & our dog.||We have being banned .||Let me have your attention let me explain what happened .||Regular customers here usually good food service not great however we are a nation that doesn’t seem to complain so let’s say we just accept bad service thinking this is the norm ||Having worked most of my life in a very competitive work history one if the things to retain business was excellent customer service and going over and above to make sure this was done.||Our last visit before being banned was met at first as ok ordered steak & chips partner had parmo & chips.||Yes took a while to be served but that was not an issue as when it was served my partner didn’t have chips nor did I let’s say they where more like crisps over done burnt and no flavour . ||He isn’t one to complain but he said I cannot eat these chips / crisps nor could I .||We spoke to a young waitress who said would you like a free coffee?||Er no we would like it replaced - would be cold coming back or to speak to manager .||Think managers name is Billy, it it was young girl who always looks stressed - not welcoming or approachable .||Billy , did not come over so I went to the bar where she was serving beer .||She eventually looked up and said I’m really busy I said I can see that but I wanted to speak to you .||In between serving I explained what had happened and she said - do you just want your money back / I could see she had no concept of listening or asking can I ask what’s happened just - do you want your money back.||I said yes and when she checked the payment my partners card hasn’t gone through however we didn’t know that but she made a point of saying YOU HAVENT PAID .||I said well we didn’t know that as this should have been checked with her staff .||I did email head office in Newcastle, and there response was clearly this establishment is not for you .||So are we not supposed to give feedback and communicate obviously not ftom||What happened.||Bad service manager like a bull in a china shop young kids stressed serving with no smiles just totally not happy .||Considering how much money is been taken here this is on another level of no understanding of what is really going on here no one seems bothered as at the end of the day the tills still ringing profits are been made and Managers like this Billy, are getting away with murder when really she should have had a verbal waning or dismissed .||Thank you for reading this negative awful - review

Everything was great and the menu was unusual with venison and pheasant!.. Can recommend the scotch eggs!||Shower was a touch small and awkward to get in and out, other than that an enjoyable stay. I think I'll return at a weekend.

Mine wasn't so bad but my mother and father in-laws Sunday roasts were mixed up.

The pork should have had pork crackling on the same plate, but it was on the plate with the Turkey instead. My mother in law asked for clarification from the serving staff as she was almost certain she had the wrong meat (the meats looked similar), but the serving staff member said it was definitely Turkey.

It was not. So she had pork instead of the turkey that she ordered and my father in law had turkey with pork crackling so the plates were indeed mixed up.

My wife's mousse was grainy then the ice cream that my mother in law was given as desert was still partially frozen.

My mother and father in law are too nice to complain, but in my opinion they should have.

Mine wasn't so bad but I was given an extra pudding without any extra gravy (I paid for the extra pudding of course) and I couldn't be bothered to ask for more.

I had turkey and my turkey was quite fatty and there wasn't much of it.

The girl who served us at the counter was excellent. She let us know that our son's chicken wouldn't be breaded to avoid his potential disappointment and she also sought out some marsh mallows for his ice cream, she was excellent at her job with great customer service. I have nothing against the serving staff either but he should have checked more carefully that my mother in law had the right meat on her plate, which he didn't bother to do.

Toilets were super clean which is a big plus in my opinion as a lot of toilets in pubs are disgusting. Parking was great and accessible too. It's a nice pub but we didn't have the best experience with the food.

We've used quite a few pubs of this chain and have had better experiences with the food.

P.s my wife has eaten at this pub before and had a much better experience with the food. She was present here too and also didn't think it was great.

Food is outstanding. The steak was perfectly cooked, best sauces I've ever tasted. Sure it's not cheap but then for this amount of flavour you wouldn't expect it to be.
Could have eaten it twice and yes, I'd love a bigger portion but I just can't fault the flavour and how it was cooked.
The staff were friendly and professional.
The Kings head is situated in the shadow of Rosebery Topping so the scenery is just amazing. Go for a walk, then stop by the Kings Head for some spectacular grub. Breakfast is served from 07.00 every day of the week up until 11.00am.
The full English is just the thing to refuel after an early morning hill side stroll.
Highly recommend it.
