I worked at Camphill Devon from 2021-2024 and the reason I left was geographical. If I could have kept my position, I would have. The people they support are at the heart of everything they do and they make strides and actions to ensure they're achieving goals, obtaining independence skills and above all, that they're happy. From organising outings, helping them receive work and experiencing their workshops, I have seen previously neglected individuals in other care establishments come to Camphill Devon, thrive, exit their bubble and interact with the events on site and their houses.

The people they support are a joy that I miss and I will always see them as my second family as well as the staff members. The care, office, workshop and maintenance staff work tirelessly to ensure Camphill Devon is an empathetic and warm environment.

If you are wondering whether to work here or refer a loved one here, do so in a heartbeat.

My nephew came to live at Camphill Devon last year and I have never seen him happier. Before moving here, he had been either living by himself or in a shared house, but neither worked out very well for him. At Camphill, he has lots of friends and everyone seems to get on together very well. He is always busy doing an activity, and there always seems to be something going on. We have been to a couple of their fairs and are impressed at the friendliness shown by everyone.

My son moved to Camphill Devon Community just over a year ago, and it was the best decision ever. He went from an under-stimulated, under-supported and rather lonely existence in Supported Living elsewhere to a life full of care, love, support and laughter, with many opportunities for daily activities. He was warmly welcomed, settled in really quickly and is very happy. I'm also happy knowing that I don't have to worry about him any longer. I can't praise the staff at Camphill Devon - all of them - highly enough. They really care about the people they support and do everything they can to make everyone's lives as happy and fulfilling as possible. There are several on-site workshops, including textiles, woodwork, metalwork and pottery, that don't just provide 'pointless busywork'; the people who are supported there show amazing artistic and practical skills, and many beautiful products of the workshops are displayed and sold locally. There are also productive vegetable gardens with polytunnels, and a variety of animals including alpacas, goats and chickens. There are also many opportunities for outings, off-site courses, trips to the local leisure centre etc., and people are supported to have an annual holiday where possible. Set in glorious, peaceful countryside on the edge of Dartmoor, Camphill Devon provides a safe, supported home for people with a learning disability or autism.

We have had a wonderful welcome and excellent support from all at Camphill Devon during the process of my Son Andy moving in. His confidence and self esteem has already improved after spending time with the Community and It will continue as they strive to promote his independence. He is excited and optimistic about living at Camphill and is looking forward to being part of the community, and it's way of life.

Perhaps Brad was camping on a hill somewhere (see 1* review)
As a relative of one of the residents I find all the staff have compassion, caring, professionalism, and more.
On the occasions I have been able to visit I have experienced a great sense of care and love from all the staff and an understanding seldom found elsewhere.
It is has enviable workshops and all located in beautiful surroundings.
Sadly I am not in a position to be a volunteer

An absolutely stunning setting for residential and supported living accommodation for adults with learning disabilities.
There are 100 acres of land which houses a variety of workshops for the community of Camphill and also to people who access day services.
The community is very friendly and has a family like atmosphere.
The Camphill Community host a summer fayre and a Christmas advent fayre, where they sell the products they make throughout the year in the workshops.

This place is run by some racist, arrogant and lazy but paid people who gather people from all around the world and make them work hard as slaves in the name of volunteering! They dont even provide proper food or proper accomadation for volunteers even though they had to but the CEO is even paid for taking a taxi to work!!! Whatever your situation is, dont ever volunteer in this place! If you do, you will have the worst year of your entire life! And do not believe the website or any other adverts! They dont even behave well to the people with learning disabilities! Its a total lie!

I visited this place some years ago on a trip of nostalgia. I was here in the 1960's as a child, it was a children's home called Hapstead House. My visit was unnerving to say the least. It was very unwelcoming, consequently I didn't get to see all that I wanted to. The staff were rude and seemed secretive to a certain degree. I won't be returning
