Another beautiful Church in this country of ours very picturesque . This particular Church was dedicated to St Andrew in 1331 by one Hamo Bishop of Rochester Cathedral which is also dedicated to St Andrew and is fantastic also .
The Bernard family acquired the Manor of Isleham in King John's reign some remnants of their original stone church are still visible .
The tomb of Sir Gilbert Bernard is apparently sporting a very fashionable haircut with shoulder length curls popular during Edward the 111 reign . Just one more reason to thank God your alive today and not in the 1300s .
There are some amazing carved angels on the wooden ceiling and a pair of binoculars are there so you can get a closer look .
The two very impressive and colourful tombs belong to belong to members of the Peyton family . It was in 1430 that Margaret the last of the Bernard's married one Thomas Peyton . Surprisingly they still look very grand to this day .
In the 17th century many of the family left for America and hopefully a better life . To this day there is still a Peyton Society of Virginia and supposedly said Society still supports this amazing Church today . That is cool in my humble opinion .

Lovely village church in Isleham. Lots of visitors come to see the wooden carved angels in the roof. Also for the brass rubbings and Peyton family tombs. The near by priory is also well worth a visit.
