If there was a minus one would score that.
Even though the care home has received some good reviews I didnt find the same standard.
There was dreadful communication between myself and the staff looking after my relative. They didnt seem to listen to my concerns.
Her room was not cleaned properly and the times we were sitting in her room it smelt of urine.
I found a urine sample left in a bathroom and when I brought this to the attention of a carer their response was one of the nurses must have left it there. No thank you for bringing to her attention.
The unit in my opinion was not cleaned properly.
My relative suffered from a cough for over 4 weeks. The treatment she had received remained a secret until I asked and asked what was being done about it.
The staff did a lot of sitting about drinking coffee and not much chatting to patients.
All in all a horrible experience for our relative and us as a family.

Response
This is what I mean lack of conmunication. I mentioned my concerns to the ladies in the office and on the telephone.
Plus you make no comment about urine sample left in the bathroom

Absolutely shocking place. Do not put any of your friends or relations in here. It is dirty and uninspiring. Used incontinent pads shrewn across the bedroom floor and left there. Disgusting. Communication skills of staff extremely poor. Some of the cleaning staff and residents look as if they haven't had a wash for a month. It is the pits.

RESPONSE TO YOUR REPLY. Thank you for your standard reply. FYI we spoke to members of your staff, many times regarding our complaints. It is obvious you have not investigated this review, your company should be ashamed it opens its door to vulnerable patients.

An honest review from an eternally grateful family. My nan moved into Havana house at the beginning of this year. She unfortunately lost her battle with dementia recently, the staff here are unbelievable. Like nothing I’ve ever seen before in the care industry. I myself having worked in care was blown away by how personal my nans care felt. During her last days staff where coming in on there days off to say goodbye. As we sat at her bedside for days on end they couldn’t do enough even getting us out the room for 10 mins while they set up a surprise afternoon tea for us to share as a family. There are too many to name but Jade and her team are in my opinion the most incredible people. It’s so comforting to feel like in her last months she was as loved by them as she was us. We are forever grateful to you all.

WARNING!!!!! Think twice, . Poor communication between staff handovers, staff not understanding patients diagnosis, not following up on medical requests. Staff allowed personal phones, and are constantly on them while patients are neglected. Only good thing to report its clean !!
I have a report from them that they state there staff need more training. I have it in righting from them they used the wrong care plan and not an updated one.. there attitude is poor when things go wrong, its peoples lives there dealing with and family's who are left distraught at there incompetence.. more than happy for you to get in touch Patrick. ,

I liked my time at broadoak,I liked all the staff, but they do have a problem with the night staff, whether it the need for agency staff and they have their stipulations and the burocracy lays over to the residents.very disappointing. As a hole this home only has a few bad apples.the
majority you can't fault.i do ask for the owner to have a conversation about your homes and listen to the residents point of view,or is this about money and not care of our vulnerable people in our society. Let's see .I hope you don't get me wrong, the staff are amazing,it's hard to leave and never see them.i whish the staff and the senior staff all the best.Paddy your the boss.Respect.goodbye and love to you all

If I could leave zero stars I would. We submitted a safeguarding report about this hole regarding my mum, of course everyone backs each other and they had their stories and excuses for the neglect and suffering they caused to my mum. The manager Patrick Murphy isn't fit for purpose along with his useless staff, not all, but most. It breaks my heart to think what my mum went through in here during covid when I wasn't allowed to see her. DO NOT LEAVE ANY FAMILY IN HERE. It needs closing permanently

My mum had a brief stay here after a fall and I can say that the care she received was excellent. No need to worry about anything and nothing is too much trouble.
