IDEAS For Us is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and United Nations Accredited NGO, founded in Orlando and taking action in over 30 countries around the world. They develop ideas from within communities, fund crowd sourced action projects, and scale sustainability solutions that are backed by metrics and KPIs. All the work of IDEAS focuses on the intersectionalities of energy, water, food, waste, and ecology to create grassroots eco-action, all the way up to policies mandates, ordinances, and actions by local and national governments. All IDEAS projects aim to educate, engage, and employ people through environmental action - NOT advocacy.

Sometimes in environmentalism, you leave the meeting feeling the problem is even more larger than you thought, and you can’t possibly help the situation. Not at IDEAS For Us, because the heart of the company’s work, and the end result of all of their meetings, is action.

IDEAS For Us generates these plans of action not in a vacuum, but rather by infusing the voices of the surrounding community. The problems are global, but as they see it, the solutions are local. In addition to weekly eco-action projects in Florida like tree plantings, shoreline restorations, trash clean-ups, habitat restorations, edible landscape builds and more, IDEAS has an eye on global environmental needs. With branches from Kenya to Liberia to Nepal and beyond, IDEAS ignites eco-action around the world, raising funds for local leaders at each branch to complete their own projects tailored to their home's unique environmental needs.

Many think sustainability is a privilege, but to IDEAS For Us, sustainability is a minimum. The company’s projects vary from direct eco-action to direct social action, such as the recent event: creating care kits for trafficked women. With every project, they ask what sustainability means, knowing that the environmental movement is intersectional. It is more than planting trees, hiring a sustainability officer or sustainability manager, and corporate social responsibility. Which sustainable development goals does IDEAS work towards?
