The BT Benevolent Fund is an example of what all charities should aspire to. They are responsible, honest and totally upfront in the information they require before they are able to assist.
I learnt that they are totally independent from BT and rely on donations from existing & former members of BT staff. I guess this is why they have a duty to those people in making sure the money is spent correctly. That is why I was happy to provide my financial information fully but not my hospital records as they said they are never required, only financial records.
They do this without judging and in a very compassionate manner.

The max you can get is £1000. They want all your bank statements very up to date. I tried to get quotes for builders and was let down. Other agencies advised pu the application in anyway. The person on the other end at BT cannot do a thing to help unless every box is ticked. I am ex BT and was treated very poorly by by performance systems and a nasty manger. Things could be checked about my situation. BT don't care. I am not mentally well enough with stress of looking after my wife. I said I give up. Had enough.

This organisation is wonderful. My mums brother died unexpectedly of cancer he had no savings and my mother could not afford his funeral. They helped us through such a difficult time and we were fortunate enough to receive help towards his cremation. Thank you again. X

FALSE PROMISES ,THEY USE TO CARE WHEN YOU WERE IN ILL HEALTH AND NEEDED FINANCIAL HELP FOR A CARER ETC,NOW THEY DONT,AFTER WEEKS OF GATHERING HOSPITAL RECORDS AND ALL LIVING FINANCES IT WASN'T ENOUGH, JUST NEEDED MORE DETAILS FOR MORE EXCUSES NOT TO HELP,NOW MY FATHER IS HAVING TO COPE WITH CANCER AND NO ASSISTANCE FROM WHAT WAS KNOWN AS BT BENEVOLENT FUND

Without getting into detail, they are massive life savers. Yes they want to check everything but unless they find you can help yourself they tend to help.

Gates have been broken for months with no sign that they'll ever be repaired. Interior shabby although at least it seems to be getting attention from a cleaner lately.
