Dined here on an afternoon the place was quiet. The food and service made up for this though. They do small plates of food which were delicious and we're filling without stuffing you. I recommend this place.

A party of 5 of us went last Sunday at 3.45pm for a Sunday roast.
The food was lovely, staff great, service was good, we were served very quickly, however upon entering the restaurant, there was a putrid, pungent smell which we all noticed.

On leaving the restaurant, downstairs the smell was still very intense and was definitely a smell of dogs, this has put me off returning.
it's such a shame, but in all honesty I can't comprehend why so many people feel it's acceptable to take their smelly dog to a place where humans are eating food, it's unhygienic to say the least and the smell was stomach churning. 🤮

There's not much to say about the food other than it's excellent! The portion sizes are good and as it's meant for sharing, there's a lot to choose from, although not all dishes are included in the 3 for £XX deal.
I gave service 4 stars because we felt forgotten about for the dessert course and after waiting for around 30 minutes, I had to go and ask for it. It meant I had to leave to sort out my parking as I didn't expect lunch to last 2 hours.
As for atmosphere, the seating is enough for groups, but that means conversations can become quite loud at times, drowning out the music and giving it a pub feel when you really want a restaurant.

A nice experience overall and we've walked past so many times saying we should go in, and we're finally glad we did.

We previously visited for small plates and so we’re really excited to try the Sunday roast. We were not disappointed. We both chose the beef and it was super tasty and pink. The sides were thought out and flavourful. No bland vegetables here. We topped it off with desserts, which are always amazing here. The baked Alaska is especially my favourite.

A great selection of small plates. There are lots of choices for vegetarians and good dessert options too.

They had a huge range of beers, cocktails, and wines. I was very pleased with my pint of Virtuous IPA from Kirtstall Brewery, which was on draft and only 0.9% alcohol content.

Friendly staff, and excellent value for money. Would highly recommend to anyone in the Northallerton area.
