What an amazing place! I contacted Tricia quite urgently to rehome a bird from a family member and she immediately said yes. 2 days later I was at the sanctuary where she introduced me to all the birds in their huge aviary, knew every one of them and goes to great lengths to provide them with the best home she can. She took in the sick, old bird that I brought and got to work looking after him. A proper crazy, bird lady! Worth all the support they get for taking in so many unwanted pets and trying to provide them with the most natural life they can get in captivity. Remember folks, birds are not for cages

I saw this featured on the tellybox some time ago and it really piqued my interest - worth spending some time! Rounded up a couple of others and we booked Morndyke Cottage and an aviary experience with Tricia. (The cottage was fab - very high spec, comfy and cosy - with the aviary (it's huge) to look out on).
If you're interested in animal or bird welfare, or are interested in a career with animals - this is an excellent experience. Tricia will pack your head with facts about all of her flock, all of whom now have space, a safe place and life changing companionship with their own kind. We had no idea of the sheer intelligence and emotional intelligence of these wonderful birds. We got to see them up close, feed them, tidy up a wee bit and have our hats nicked by the Macaws. It was a very rewarding experience and Tricia is a brilliant champion and ambassador for her flock. Go!

Had the privilege of visiting the sanctuary and spending time with the parrots, what Trica does and her vast knowledge is amazing.
The parrots are living there best life’s and it really shows you can see just how happy and content they are. And it’s just beautiful to see.

A marvellous place where rescued birds can live out their lives in safety and comfort. The love and respect from the owner for their birds shines through and restores your faith in humanity. The visit was tailored to our needs. I was a little nervous and safety clothing was provided. However I absolutely loved being close to the birds and hand feeding them was just amazing. They were so gentle! Special shout out must go to Cooper, my new best friend! He should be on commission because I already want to return to see him! Many thanks.

We visited the Sanctuary in Thirsk. We needed wanted to put our Hanns McCaw in the Sanctuary, as our situation at home had changed. Snuggles was been left at home for long periods of time which made us feel was cruel to him. Tricia took Snuggles in today and straight away I felt he was Calm Curious and Relaxed. I know it was the right decision. Anyone can sponsor the Sanctuary, and they could do with all the help

Amazing experience - Tricia is an excellent host & passionate advocate and educator. The aviary is awesome, and all the birds are beautiful and living their best lives.
Do read the info when booking - the birds are VERY cheeky and explore with their beaks, so no jewellery MEANS no jewellery!! But it's so worth it - i had no idea how sweet & personable parrots could be.

Special shout out to Cooper, Jasper, Othello, Eos & Ophelia - just gorgeous! And also Tricia & Yvonne - thank you for a glorious afternoon in the sunshine ❀️

I originally organised an experience for my dad as he loved birds/parrots but it ended up being a very eye opening experience for myself as well. Traci's sheer determination to give all her flock the best life they deserve is so heartbreaking warming.

Health and safety was thoroughly gone through and adequate PPE was on hand if we wished. Traci made sure we were educated and ready to enter the avery knowing what to expect (you need to make sure you wear old clothes, wellingtons and NO jewellery).

I won't spoil anything for future visitors but it is well worth the visit!!

What an incredible place. Trish is wonderfully passionate about these birds and clearing up the mess that so many people have created by caging a bird for their own enjoyment without a thought for the poor creature who is a flock animal.
