Visited the an and e department today with shoulder pain causing breathing issues. The care was fantastic. I was seen quickly by triage nurses who then sorted an ECG. I was quickly transferred to the emergency day care unit where a Nurse Practitioner Jackie oversaw my care. The nurses were attentive and kept me informed of what was happening. I was discharged with the appropriate pain relief and advice once I was more comfortable. Very impressed with the facilities and staff.

Giving this hospital a 3 star review, firstly took my husband in as doctor rang and said he needed urgent IV fluids as he had bloods done at the doctors and found out he has Acute Kidney injury so needed urgent fluids. Went to A and E got seen to in 30 mins so was happy about that. Went through to the urgent care room where we had to wait for someone to take bloods which wasn't long. Doctor came about and hour later to ask questions which obviously is normal. She explained we had to wait for blood test results, so again we understood. Another hour later doctor came back said she is still waiting for results but was starting my husband on his first IV fluid. 4 hours later doctor came back to say that he had to be admitted as he needs more fluids. They wheeled him in a bed into a corridor and I'm not kidding you but he was there for 7 hours in the corridor waiting for a ward. We understand there busy but when we asked questions nobody could tell us anything!!! Got to a ward at 11.40pm. The staff don't get me wrong are lovely but lack of communication is terrible and when asked nobody knows anything, how is that possible Forward on into the morning, my husband ask the doctor what was happening and he said he was waiting for blood test results, when my husband said "how can you be waiting for results when nobody has been to take any bloods", since his 4 lots of IV fluids the doctor replied with "oh yeah"!! 1 hour later my husband discharged himself. Anyway overall a and e staff are lovely.

So I have been wondering about writing a review, but I feel that I need to.
I went into A&E on 1/2/25 at 10.00 for an IV cleanse on an acute kidney injury, as recommended by my GP. A&E was steady and the staff were very accommodating. I had blood tests and was then told that I would have to stay the night. This was by a doctor with the personality of a brick. I was put onto a bed and IV connected, and left in the corridor. I was finally taken to a ward at 23.30. The ward was full, and I was "dumped" in the middle of the ward.
There was no communication as to my situation or the next steps.
The ward that I was dumped in stank worse than a pigsty.
I decided to discharge myself. Once I got home I stripped off and everything went into the washing machine, I went straight upstairs for a long hot shower.
As I said, most of the staff were very helpful and friendly. Congratulations for still working there.
To the stuck up doctor. You are only human and not a God. Try some human interaction.

Had to visit A&E with someone, on a Saturday evening, 4hr wait as advised, which was expected. Generally ok but my biggest gripe is no food or drink in A&E. Empty water jugs until asked (staff sitting at window could see they were empty but no proactiveness), drinks vending machine broken and food vending virtually empty with no prices. If you are waiting there for hours as expected in the 30+C (it was so hot !) heated waiting room, I'd expect something available without asking staff who don't have the time.

When someone says “clean as hospital” I’m sure they don’t mean this one. 1 dr for the entire A&E waiting for 5 hours to be told it’s only a migraine even though my blood pressure was high and I could move my hand. The pictures below - this is when I’ve entered the examining room… disgusting no infection control. Dr took my bloods then spilled it on the floor and on my dress. There was blood of other patient in the sink… awful

Came in on the early hours of 11.2.25 with Major heart pain.
Sat on a trolley in the corridor in immense pain.
At the start the staff were great. After many hours they moved me to the Assessment Unit where the staff were still good, BUT I was still in immense pain yet Dr Elvis said for me to go home and take Codiene and Paracetamol. I then said to 2 nurses that I didn't feel good at all and really don't think I should be sent home. They called Dr Elvis back and he changed his mind and said go sit in the observation room and we will see. I was kewling over and was violently sick for 2 days.
Then once moved to a ward the painkillers were mediocre at least.
On Thursday after feeling better they said they still going to keep me in until Saturday.
Then on Friday a Dr came and said we are happy for you to go home. So I arranged transport. 20 minutes later another Dr/physician says you can't go.
I was now extremely irritated and told the to go talk to each and sort it out.
The physician came bace saying yes you can go home once we give you a scan att 3pm. By the way they put me on nil by mouth since 9.30am. 2md time they had put me on Nil by mouth, the first time I had to wait for another Dr and said do I have to stay on Nil by mouth, she said not at all.
It's Friday now. I'm absolutely starving and still sitting next to my bed at 4pm with no update whatsoever.
In extra me hunger and just want to go home.
Appauling service by the Dr's, the staff are very good.
But they seem to have forgotten about me.
I have had one of the most difficult weeks and my struggle to get, stress and pain is still ongoing.
Aty wits end but cannot risk discharging myself.
My partner has had to drive an hour to come getw but there's nothing I can do.

I have recently had 2 acute admissions to George Elliott, the last resulting in a stay on Melly ward. From the paramedics, through A/E staff and up on the ward and in the imaging department all of the staff were absolutely brilliant; kind, caring and compassionate. There is bound to be a lot of waiting around on a trolley in A/E with the volume of patients being looked after but when you're poorly you don't really care what you are lying on. I was kept comfortable and medical staff ensured I was always getting enough pain relief. Hand over and communication between departments could be better but essentially the bottom line is that I was extremely well cared for. I arrived with nothing apart from a phone and my door key so was admitted with just what I was lying in. It was no trouble for a kind HCA to find me a toothbrush and toothpaste and a bar of soap. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for helping in my eventual recovery.
One suggestion I do have would be to have a couple of universal phone chargers on a department for overnight and admitted unaccompanied patients who need to stay in touch with family or friends.

Just picked my husband up for his visit at GE, what an amazing team of people! Very thankful for the care he received. The elliot has come a long way in the last few years.
They exceeded our expectations and I'm forever grateful for the treatment he has received!
