Popped in as a group of 6 ladies for late lunch. Great menu. Staff friendly and efficient. Amazing food at great price. Super service. Highly recommend 👌

Myself and my wife pop in here on are way home and I can't be more happy that we did the staff went well above and beyond. They only had a small table by the bar but it had one chair so the staff managed to find one for me. We both had the trio roast it was amazing the gravy was the best I have ever had. The manager and staff on Sunday the 19th of January where fantastic. We will be back again for sure.

The worst Sunday roast I have ever seen. Bought in cubed vegetable steamed to death, bought in peeled potatoes, steamed to death and not roasted. Meat was terrible. I have seen better plating in care homes. Dessert was salted caramel sundae and it had nothing to do with salted caramel, it was just chocolate ice cream with bought in whipped cream. If I wanted chocolate ice cream I would order one. I did not want to complain about this in the building, I did not want to ruin our family lunch and I did not want to intimidate very young staff working hard. It was embarrassing. Then later I discovered its greeneking and it suddenly made all sense. Don't bother about sending me your email to talk to you, I won't. This place is a closed chapter for me and other people who came with us.

Can’t really say this was good enough for the Xmas dinner - let alone a normal dinner- Wasn’t even a full plate. This was my plate before taking a bite. ( I had cut one of the bits of steak in half. But this is pretty much how it came out ) aunt Bessie frozen potatoes even ? Not sure. I understand it’s Xmas and the staff probably would have preferred to be at home with family. But paying over £70 a head wasn’t worth it.- not actually sure how this was served with a straight face 😅 Not only this plate. But my starter. Simple cheesy garlic bread was a half baked ciabatta roll that was stuck Under the grill. Top was toasted. But the bottom half wasn’t cooked. Even the dessert wasn’t great - I ate what I could because it was our only option for Xmas dinner at that point. I won’t even speak on the rest of the families. Luckily we had a good sense of humour. And laughed it offf. But never again.

Ordered celeriac soup - got given veg soup. Found it inedible (suspected it was from a can?). The terrine was nice. Service was slow - 3/4 hour to take our order but then it came out quickly - we were told this in advance to be fair- but we couldn’t understand as it wasn’t that busy. Our Waitress was surly - we felt like they didn’t want us there and we were inconveniencing them … sorry for coming! Would not go back or recommend. We wanted simple tasty food and a cheery staff - which we found at newlyns farm shop cafe which was round the corner!

The starter was adequate, just about, but delicious.
The Christmas turkey dinner was spot-on 💯%
The Christmas pudding lacked in size (a slither of pudding, which reassembled a rasher of bacon!!), with a drizzle of custard as accompaniment 🤨
But, the waitresses personality was absolutely dreadful. She smiled when necessary, but as soon as she turned away to head to the bar, the smile disappeared.
The waiting time was dreadful, we were ignored for at least 20 minutes (possibly longer), until I collared someone & asked to order our food!!
I had to go to the bar to request our bill, as we were all tired of waiting 🙄

Nice place, but we were not able to order food because the garden "wasn't ready" even through all tables were occupied. A pint of lager for £6.6 is even bigger insult

Possibly just taken my number 1 spot for a roast in Hampshire. The food we had was unbelievable at such an affordable price we thought the receipt was wrong!

We had two rosé spritz, 2 starters, 2 mains and 2 sides and it came to £52.

The chicken liver pâté and a squid for starters were brilliant. The pâté was great, there was loads of it and a generous amount of toast which is unlike most places and the squid was one of the best I’ve ever had and I love squid and eat it regularly.

The roasts were just incredible, could go there every day and eat that. I had the trio of meats and the turkey was genuinely the nicest bit of turkey I’ve ever had. We got a stuffed Yorkshire pudding and pigs in blankets for sides and they were so tasty and well worth the very little amount of money they were charging for them.

Will 100% be returning.
