I live opposite this lovely patch of common ground and it’s a privilege. It’s mainly used by dog walkers but from April to October there are either horses or cows grazing.
Either way, it’s great for getting out of the house and stretching your legs.

We live in Old Basing which is the village side of the common. It's a great place to take your dogs, and I'm often I'm here and enjoy it, sadly though my partner is disabled and has a mobility scooter, we've contacted the council numerous times about this that there is no access for disability people to enjoy the same common as everybody else. At one point they did Make a special Modification on one of the gateways next to The Village Side, but this was taken out by the new people that have their horses on the fields, as far as I know they're allowed to be on their rent free as I must stay upgrade and secure the area, maintaining the fences and gateways, we asked the council again to help make this access available to disabled people also because they can go with their families or their dog it seems very unfair that there's no access whatsoever to these areas for disabled people. The problem is the gateways don't allow a large enough space for a larger mobility vehicle to get through. We suggested that they had a special key like the one you use in a disabled toilet to be able to open a side gate, if the gate is on a spring back then it won't stay open if somebody accidentally forgets. 7 fortunately I'm a little unhappy that I can't go there with my partner as well

Large open beautiful place, lots of views and can see the town in the distance. Great place for walking, running, dog walking. Wild horses roam free too.

Lovely open space to walk the dog, horses are friendly and a great opportunity for the kids to learn more about animals🐴 we walk here several times in the week especially in the evening, it's open till 8pm giving us plenty of time to get out and wander about🌲

It's a great place to walk, obviously can be muddy sometimes. In summer, there are horses grazing on there, which is lovely. One word of warning, there are rabbits around, so make sure you watch your step, as there are plenty of holes in the ground.

Seemed quite nice to be fair, but tricky parking, then wild horses attached our picnic, trampled all over our stuff and scared my son.. 😱
