Shocking service, the doctors don’t listen and don’t care. My mother’s been in this place 3x previous over the last 4 years. She’s in for 2 to 3 months at a time and the doctors say …’she is baseline’ then discharge when I tell them the meds aren’t right! Just had a call again tonight, she being admitted again. Round 4. The system in the UK for mental health, DOES NOT WORK. Something needs to be done! Please GOD let someone who can make a difference read this review and help the colossal scale of poor people currently suffering with mental health 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼This sector is miss managed and under funded on levels unimaginable!!! Please in the interest of the public health someone who can help, please help! It is failing people on a monumental scale! 💔💔💔💔💔💔😭😭😭😭

The level of professionalism in this hospital is disgusting. Not only do they seem to ignore the patients in their care, they ignore the visitors.
I asked for a handover, which I, as next of kin am entitled to. I wanted to know whether my family member had eaten, drunk and taken medication as she had been previously refusing. I was told to ask the Nurse in charge, but finding her was impossible. I had finally found bank staff, who seemed to be trying to close the office door on me, although claimed she wasn't. She was given a peice of paper and all she said was "she's eaten and drunk fine", giving me the impression that they had no idea how she was doing.
I asked to escort my family member to the bedroom, and I was told I could not, and when I asked a second time, the "carer" sat on his tablet and purposely ignored me, looking in any direction that wasn't mine.
I eventually walked her to the bedroom and was asked to leave by a member of staff a few minutes after being in there. Their reasoning is they can't keep an eye on people who are in the bedrooms. However they can't keep an eye on the people in the main area.
My family member and another visiting her were punched by another patient, and although police were apparently called, we are unsure anyone turned up.
My family member was scared when seeing him on my last visit, and was incredibly tearful. I didn't see any of the staff members approach her to ensure she was safe and okay. Uncaring lowlifes.
She had next to nothing in her room, and it seems that the staff will not give her the things she needs.
When leaving I knocked on the door, and I was looked at by a staff member and she looked away, clearly ignoring my existence.
She didn't indicate to me that I wait a moment, just looked away again.
It wasn't till I knocked the door and shouted "can someone let me out please" that she finally opened the door, 10 seconds after. And when she had opened the door, she acted like I had only just appeared at the door. She asked who was to be let out and I said me. They don't seem to know who is a patient and who is the visitor, which is worrying. The patients should be wearing wrist bands to ensure they are aware of who is who, and that staff should be well versed in who is staying in the facility. I assume the reason I was ignored at the door was because they thought I was "just another patient", which is unacceptable to say the least.
I also witnessed two staff members passing eachother through the main door that they keep locked, and not one of them locked the door behind them. It was another 15 seconds after the man left the unit that he turned and locked the door. That would have been enough time for someone to leave the unit and as they seem to have no idea who are patients, they would have let them leave.
I wouldn't want to set foot in that place ever again, however I also couldn't leave my family member alone all those hours knowing how they treated me, a visitor. It begs the question, what are they doing to their patients in their "care"?
Another patient claimed that they're treated like dogs in there. These people maybe in there because they were sectioned for being mentally unwell, but I believe most of them have the capacity to recognise when they are being treated wrongfully.
Ignorant and rude, not providing the necessary items a human needs to feel comfortable and valued.
No one in this facility know how to care, and shouldn't be working in this field.
Anyone who thinks working in care is an easy job, are mistaken. And anyone who treats the job as such are unfit to be a human.
This place needs a safeguarding put in place for blatant neglect.

I recently had a troubling experience at Green Park House, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts. While I did encounter a few genuinely caring and professional staff members—much better than my previous experience at Oxleas House in Woolwich—the overall treatment was deeply concerning.

During my stay, I felt like I was trapped in a disturbing reality. I left feeling worse than when I arrived, grappling now with what I believe to be PTSD from this ordeal. The basic necessities were often a struggle to obtain. Patients had to beg for single teabags, sachets of sugar, and even milk—things that should be readily available in a care setting. It felt dehumanizing to fight for such basic comforts, especially when they could have alleviated some of the trauma we were already experiencing.

The neglect was palpable. Staff often sat idle for long shifts, engaging in minimal interaction with patients, which only added to the sense of isolation and despair. It was disheartening to see them consume snacks and sit using there mobile phone while patients were denied access to food, reinforcing a troubling dynamic.

I was admitted for severe depression and distressing thoughts, hoping for a safe space to recover. Instead, I found myself in a ward with severely ill patients, including those experiencing paranoia and schizophrenia. This environment only exacerbated my condition, making me feel tortured rather than supported.

I strongly urge management to implement measures such as CCTV on the wards to ensure accountability and improve patient care. My experience at Green Park House has prompted me to file a formal complaint. It's vital that vulnerable individuals receive the respect and care they deserve, rather than endure further trauma in a setting that should be nurturing and supportive.
The staff nurses that are on these wards act more like security rather then be supportive caring and understanding. CCTV needs to be on the ward ASAP due to patient safety concerns. Boom!

I AM HERE CURRENTLY AND AM POSTING THIS BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE HERE AND ALL THE STAFF KNOW WHY!

Discharged to day though no body asked me, and they lied and said it happened 3 days ago!

Oxles is not trust worthy and I would call going to bettsward "going to the john" if you go you'll find out why.
It's all a bit Iffy, unkind, untrustworthy and dangerous. They will make you beg for medications and keep people illegally, neither on section or letting you go for hours.

I went to visit a friend in there and came away feeling very sad, not just because my friend was in there but because she had received bad treatment from the nurses and the staff all seemed miserable and uncaring. The patients looked bored and scared and I felt that particularly with the men they could kick off at anytime and it could be quite dangerous physically in there particularly as it was a mixed ward - my friend hadn’t eaten for a couple of days and with the medication she was having she was understandably feeling dizzy - it was a very uncomfortable and unpleasant experience and I didn’t feel any warmth towards these patients

I recently spent time on Goddington ward here, it was the most horrific experience of my life. If I could give this 0 stars I would. Majority of the nurses are uncaring, cold and dismissive. Would see other patients harassing and abusing me and did NOTHING too stop them, I was crying in my room and told a nurse who checked on me I was feeling suicidal and she smiled said okay and left, felt no involvement in my care, very neglectful - most staff sat on their personal phones whilst on duty. A friend I made in the ward had been too over 20 hospitals and green parks was the worst - that shows ! I left worse than when I arrived.

The worst mental health hospital, i've personally been in this hospital twice and all they do is medicate u to shut u up, my sister has spent most her life in and out of this hospital and is very unwell and a danger to herself and others and they still allow her to leave on her own to be able to go buy razors and don't check her belongings on the way back in and she cuts herself all over her body including her face and they still allow her out alone the next day, she will either kill herself or someone else and personally i think that's what they want coz they can't be bothered to help or deal with her

I called to speak to my daughter who has just been recently admitted in the unit and I got cut off without any reason. It is bad enough that I can’t visit because of Covid but to be made to feel guilty for calling to speak to my daughter is really cruel. Now I feel like never calling again because every time I call and don’t get to speak to her I feel the pain all over again. My heart is breaking already a little compassion or empathy wouldn’t go amis. I know it’s just a job to the staff but it is my child that is ill. I have read a lot of bad reviews and now I’m scared for the safety of my daughter but I will give the staff at Betts Ward benefit of doubt. I am really quiet worried but I will try to be positive. For now I can only give two stars will review as time goes on.
