Reaching out to Step Change has caused me more alarm and distress. I suffer with neurological disorders all of which, this added pressure has been having a major negative effect on me and my recovery.

Step change are very poor at communicating, a number of my emails and queries have been left unanswered.

When ringing Step change after a huge wait, the phone was put down on me for no reason, it was like the couldn't be bovered as it was nearing finishing time.

If you struggle with paperwork and communications, I would suggest to seek help elsewhere.

I am unsure of what is going on to be honest, since they have started taaking payments its like no one wants to speak now and I feel I have been left in the dark with no understanding.

My wife and I set up a equity release via this company through standard life in 2020 which has turned out to be very disappointing venture the main reason being that we don't ever remember being told that when we asked for the first amount of money that the interest is compacted, all our conversations with step change were recorded so I wonder if your organisation could actually prove that they did tell us that they did tell us, so at this moment in time definitely not recommended.

What a waste of time! If you are considering applying for a Debt Relief Order (DRO) do not waste your time with this 'advice' service.

They will make you complete a waffling form of information and then when you get to the very end they are unable to help you apply for the DRO as they are not an approved company to do so.

As an advice service they should advise that they are not able to help from the beginning.

Lack of financial education will allow you to become vulnerable. Learn how to manage your money right after learning the alphabet!

Been with them 4 years just had a phone call with them payed 12000 pound to my creditors split with partner he has cancelled plan and they saying they can't find the plan under the number of name and got the letters in front of me dated and signed by the manager of of step change .very shocked saying I've given incorrect details .shocking it's like I've been a ghost appalled with the service

DO NOT USE!
Paid back an IVA in full to the sum of 29k , Stepchange didn't bother removing the discharge from my deeds at land registry!! FIVE YEARS later I've been trying to get them to sort it out and it's cost me a house sale and thousands in solicitors fees!!
Currently reported to the financial ombudsman for investigation, I would seriously think twice .......

I can't recommend Stepchange enough. We got into serious debt following redundancies and they took all the stress, pain and worry out of our situation and dealt with all creditors for us. There is never any judgement on your situation, just great help and we were put on a DMP for several years. Sadly it took the death of parents for us to be able to pay these debts off but Stepchange are absolutely brilliant and anyone who is struggling with debt should 100% get in touch with them for help. Don't try and muddle through alone as the help is there. Massive, massive thank you to all at Stepchange.

Went online with Stepchange for debt advice and was advised to apply for a debt management plan. Submitted the completed application and received confirmation that it would be set up once they checked my details. 6 weeks went by and never heard another thing from them.
