Greenleaf animal rescue are an absolutely awful charity. I left details with them for my dog to be rehomed due to a serious medical problem that prevented me from looking after my dog. Despite several phone calls and emails no one got back to me after an initial email over 4 weeks ago. I made 3 attempts to get someone to respond to me without any success at all. This organisation has been absolutely useless, I cannot understand how they can successfully rehome anyone’s dog….they are clueless and totally ineffective. Stay away !!!

Do not be fooled by their shambles of an adoption process!

Whilst being lead to believe I was halfway through the adoption process after completing my initial enquiry and online questionnaire and receiving further communication back with reference to the dog in question, I was totally disheartened to discover that whilst awaiting confirmation they had received the additional information they requested including photos and ID that the dog in question had mid process been reserved by somebody else and no further communication was received.

I felt totally mislead about the whole adoption process as I was under the impression from their communication that once the home check had been approved I would then get the opportunity to pay the £50 reservation fee.

It also became apparent early on in the adoption process that the amount of money you are willing to pay above the mininium donation fee is a major factor which did raise a concern as I presumed the rehoming of a rescue animal would have been top priority and not how much you can get out of it.

After reading the reviews which I should have done initially it appears that unless you are giving up a pet the whole rehoming process from requesting further information to physical adoption is a totally unpleasant and stressful experience for the majority!

I adopted my rescue lurcher from here around 9months ago. I had very quick replies from the rescue centre and they answered all my queries. I did end up adopting a different dog to the original one that I applied for as the rescue couldn't get in touch with the fosterer, which fair enough they can't do anything about that. I turned out to be fate though as the dog we did end up adopting is amazing and a perfect fit for our home.

Fantastic experience for anyone who has to rehome a dog! Keep your animal safe in your home until they find you someone suitable to adopt them. I cannot praise Greenleaf enough for their help and understanding in most unfortunate and upsetting circumstances

You have to pay a minimum £50 BEFORE being given any basic information on the dog you want to adopt. I chased for over 2 weeks for information & was constantly passed from person to person. Finally I received an email containing a questionnaire with around 40 questions on. The last few questions are all about money including 'how much are you willing to pay?'. I answered honestly with 'I am not prepared to discuss money until I meet the animal I would like to give a forever home to but I will meet the minimum fee of £150' (actually £200 if you take the £50 deposit into consideration). Almost 2 months later & not had anything back from Greenleaf.

It is apparent from the get go that this is a money driven business, not a welfare one. My previous dog came from a rescue centre in Rotherham at a cost of £200 & you got all the support you needed there. We met him first & had all the time we needed with him before making our decision (he was an elderly chap with existing medical issues). After bringing him home we had calls from Rotherham for a few weeks to make sure he was settling in well.

I don't agree with Greenleafs operating methods & I bet that ours is not the only loving forever home that they have lost because of their pushy & greedy attitude. Such a shame really as it's the animals that are losing out at the end of the day.

Avoid if you can. Wanted £50 minimum to meet the dog & if all ok collection the same day! On further enquiry l was told the dog's first vaccination still needed to be done and I would have to arrange the second one. Also I would have to arrange neutering. Date and time arranged to view but 10 minutes later I received an email to say the dog was no longer available. They knew nothing about the dog's health. Either I had asked too many awkward questions or it was a case of who pays first wins. The dogs descriptions are all very formulaic and you get no real
idea of the dog or it's needs as you do with genuine rescue centres. Their Facebook postings are the same. Wish I had read the reviews on here first.
