A charming 16th century family mansion that remains authentically filled with family furniture and artifacts and with many portrait paintings on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. Exceptionally friendly, welcoming and informative volunteers throughout the self guided well signed tour. Lovely grounds and picnic areas for summer day visits. (No one site cafe)

The volunteers are amazing, the lady in the shop was so lovely and very insightful. She provided us with loads of information and fun facts, things to look our for on our way around the hall. The lady in the drawing room was so knowledgeable and passionate it was infectious. She answered any questions we had and told us some really fascinating history about the place! Would definitely recommend.

Gawthorpe Hall is well worth a visit. Easy accessible parking on site, and a beautiful hall and gardens to explore. The staff are super friendly and knowledgeable about the history of everything to do with the hall and the people who lived there. The garden is also beautiful to experience. Some of the paintings are quite fascinating to look at also. Recommend a visit.
