In October 2024 I attended the Department of Dermatology and was seen by Doctor John Reed and his colleague, who were very helpful and knowledgeable. The level of care and professional was fantastic. They explained everything in detail, and were very compassionate and caring. Thank you! Also, a shout out to the staff in The Immunology Department who were also very friendly and caring. From start to finish, it has been a lovely experience and am very grateful for everything they have done. Excellent professional friendly staff.

Amazing staff because each time I have visited with my Mum or Dad these guys do everything they can to help.

Absolutely amazing people. I cannot thank you enough for how much you have looked after my Mum and Dad when they needed it. Thank you.

My only criticism is the darn parking - not enough spaces.

I have PKDS and they gave me medication that someone with PKDS cannot take. I had and still have severe pain from my lower back which has since spread to my knees. No one touched my doctor spoke to me for exactly 30secs (I recorded it) before sending me home with medication I shouldn't be taking. I called a&e and the person in charge of the phones hung up on 3 times and didn't answer 8 other times. I was in the hospital for over 12 hours and had a 30 second conversation without any Prognosis. Even the nurses took no notice of me. I wasn't given painkillers unless I asked for it whereas everyone on my ward was looked after and nurses took initiative on their behalf. Other patients were discussing to eachother about how they felt bad for me as I am by myself and there's no one to stand up for me. This is the kind of "small" negligence and "easy to make" mistakes that led to my mum's death in the same hospital. What you think are small mistakes, literally takes lives. What if I wasn't someone that reads the leaflet? I've only become that way because too many times have you (NHS) given me medication that can cause me more harm than good. All I wanted was an explanation for the medication choice or even for someone to say we knew you had PKDS but this medication will still be safe for you. At no time was I asked how I am doing or if I was feeling any better or worse. I'm so upset.

Disabled parking!

I take my elderly mum quite often to the hospital, she is 89 with dementia and heart failure. She has a disabled badge as she can't walk any more without help. Every time I go to the hospital all the disabled bays are full, with some people waiting in cars having dropped their passengers off at the hospital door then they go and sit in a disabled space while they wait, rather than pay for a spot or wait elsewhere. Today I drove around for over an hour trying to find a space, we were very late for our appointment. There has to be a better system. My poor mum was so confused and tired at the end of it all.
The staff, as always were lovely.

Wow! The receptionist was very helpful (I arrived a bit early), the nurses were excellent and Panos the registrar was professional, reassuring and kind. I was seen on time. We are lucky to have the JR as our hospital so my thanks to all the staff. I know healthcare is a built on teamwork and much goes on, often unrecognised, behind the scenes so thanks to them too

The specialist endometriosis team appear work to the same standard as local gynae departments and are not worth the wait times. Mistakes were made with treatment plans, information has not been communicated to my GP and ultimately after 2 and a half years since my referral, nothing has progressed.

One of my family members became ill while we were enjoying a weekend at Oxford. Paramedics had to admit her to John Radcliffe with suspected gallstone attack. She stayed in for two days and from start to finish every member of staff were exceptional, from
A&E, to Resuc and SEU. Special thank you to the wonderful Doctor Ella in SEU. The hospital is run with superb efficiency and great empathy. The staff of volunteers went out of their way to support all my family members. Excellent facilities, including M&S food shop & café and separate food court, including Subway and 24 hour Starbucks.
The care and follow-up treatment were exemplary.

My experiance was one of observation; Some staff working very hard and overloaded , others were seen their whole shift sitting around laughing and joking (this must be frustrating to their overloaded colleagues). The main gripe I have is with the discharge time. I was moved from an ECU bed to the ward (7e) at 6.30am , told at 11am that I would be discharged imminently but nothing despite me reminding the nurses frequently until , eventually, at 8pm (9 hours later) I gave up and stormed out without any meds or discharge letter. The lady opposite me had to do similar and also complained. This ward 7e had nurses that seemed to enjoy antagonising the elderly patients and teasing them which I found utterly disturbing and no-one seemed to want to progress my discharge which would have freed up a supposedly 'much needed' bed. With apparent incompetence and lack of interest like this is it any wonder the bed situation is where it is 🙁
