Barnes Lodge is now owned by Avante Care, which is a registered charity. Avante took over Barnes Lodge In December 2023 and the home has now been updated, redecorated & is much improved. If you are looking for a care home in Tonbridge go and have a look round. You won't be disappointed.

Our 91 year old mother was recently there for a month, she was sent there for respite under Pathway 3 after a fall, as recommended by the local hospital. The CQC visit in Sep 22 provides a damning insight to this home. We support the Special Measures status based on our mother's extremely unpleasant experiences. Those that are not supported by family were most definitely at risk, the beautiful surroundings were let down by dirty linen and stressed staff. The lack of authority particularly on the weekends was obvious. A shameful experience in 2022.

My mother came here for respite care and has stayed here now for five months. This care home is large, modern and purpose built with wide corridors, spacious rooms with en suites and lots of light. It's clean, and has the feel of a Travelodge hotel rather than the usual care home cloyness. The best thing about this place though is the staff. Every single one of them I've met these last few months from cleaners and cooks to administrators and nurses have been friendly, helpful and compassionate. There is also a great deal of emphasis placed on providing daily activities and encouraging social interaction. At first, it was a bit of a shock going round to see how care homes operate, but we consider ourselves lucky to have found Barnes Lodge.

I can't thank Barnes Lodge staff enough for the love and care they gave to my mother who sadly passed away last week. The support the family were given was second to none. I couldn't have asked for a more wonderful team to have looked after her. Clean and cheerful with friendly staff. Activities planned frequently if not daily. Many levels of assistance depending on requirements. Early days, but impressed at this stage.
