My mother-in-law recently had a short respite stay at Harbour Rise Care Home, and the experience was truly outstanding. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and professionalism of the staff put us at ease. They provided compassionate, attentive care, ensuring she felt comfortable, valued, and truly at home.

The facilities were spotless, the atmosphere was welcoming, and the activities kept her engaged and happy. She especially enjoyed the delicious meals and the lovely garden area. Knowing she was in such capable hands gave our family much-needed peace of mind.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Harbour Rise Care Home to anyone looking for exceptional respite care. Thank you for making her stay so special!

Having reluctantly decided that our mother could no longer safely live independently, my brother and I set out to find a ‘home from home’ for her near us in South Devon. Although we already had high expectations, as it had been highly recommended to us, the minute we walked into Harbour Rise and were greeted warmly by the manager and owners and saw how staff were interacting with residents, we knew we had found the perfect place - and this has been reinforced by her and our experiences since she moved in.

The staff are unfailingly friendly, engaging, courteous and respectful and my mother says she feels ‘like the queen’! Mum has embraced meeting new people and all the staff make time to chat and get to know her. There are a myriad of interesting activities each week, from crafts and musical events to quizzes and balloon tennis!

Harbour Rise has a homely atmosphere and is immaculately clean and well-decorated. Mum’s room is a particular delight, spacious, well-equipped and with a delightful garden view (some rooms have lovely sea views!). Any small household issue that might arise (a bathroom tap that temporarily wouldn’t work properly, for example) is dealt with immediately, and Care needs addressed promptly and discreetly to allow Mum her dignity. The food is excellent and Mum has gone from someone with a worryingly tiny appetite to someone who looks forward to each meal (and has been known to hurriedly say goodby to me so she can rush in for tea!)

The Administration team keep families fully informed about the status of loved ones, with excellent liaison, and in the wider sense with weekly emails and updates about events accompanied with lovely photos and videos.

I wouldn’t hesitate to very highly recommend Harbour Rise to anyone looking for a caring and nurturing home for their loved one.

My mum first went into Harbour Rise for respite care in July 2022, she stayed around 6 weeks. My father had broken his hip & when he was discharged from hospital, he went to a Nursing Home, which quite frankly was so poor compared to Harbour Rise, so I moved him. As he was nearing the end of his life, I moved my mum back in to be with him. I could not ask for better care, he died peacefully and the Home were fantastic with my mum.Mum stayed another 3 weeks and returned home. She had another fall in February 2023, so she moved back into Harbour Rise with a broken back. She was almost bed ridden when she arrived, but she is now back on her feet and walking with a frame.
I cannot thank the staff enough for their love and care. They are so attentive There is always something going on, entertainers, animals, or trips out. On hot days there are ice lollies or ice cream floats, strawberries and cream or a glass of Pimms.
My mum is a fussy eater, but she never complains about the food and she has such a choice, she loves the homemade cakes and the homemade rice pudding.
It is so clean in the home and I cannot fault the home at all. It has given me such peace of mind, knowing my mum is safe and happy.

This is the most amazing care home! My Mum has advanced dementia and is also frail and unable to move around at all. She has been a resident at Harbour Rise for nearly four years and is being wonderfully looked after. Throughout this pandemic the home have remained COVID free due to their incredible vigilance and despite this they have managed to enable safe visits from relatives in a ‘pod’ or at a window. Staff are tested weekly and residents at least monthly. The staff keep their residents busy and happy and treat them all like family. I highly recommend this Care Home, families can be sure that their loved one receives individually tailored care to meet all their needs. They have received CQC Outstanding status and also won the South Devon Business Award for excellence in customer service. These are so well deserved.

We have visited Harbour Rise several times and have always been impressed by the standard of facilities and care. The staff are caring, friendly and security conscious, including the owners and managers. The rooms are clean and bright with nice furniture and fittings. I've not heard a bad word or criticism from anyone, only good.

Harbour Rise is a well run clean and inviting care home offering a great range of options to look after your loved one. Every time I am there the staff are always friendly and helpful. Mark and Cecile invest a lot in keeping the home up to date and comfortable for the residence.

My Father-in Law became a resident at Harbour Rise in January 2018 at the age of 98. The care home was so welcoming , there was no hesitation that this was the place to make home. My husband and I was so impressed with the bright décor, the cleanliness and no nasty smells. Over the months we have learned just how professional, caring, kind and communicative the staff at the home is . Every need is attended to without delay, this being health welfare and stimulus needs. The home provides all manner of entertainment and trips out. Many of the entertainments are geared to individual's personal needs , tailored around what life was before they became a resident.
The food and refreshments are regular, plentiful and very varied.
The location is wonderful , with many rooms having wonderful views.
we live in London, so not on hand, therefore it is such a relief to know that Dad is in safe and caring hands.
