We really enjoyed our visit and found it very interesting. The friendly volunteer was helpful and informative. We are very fortunate that the members of the RNLI are prepared to put their own lives at risk to save the lives of others, and to think that most of them do it as volunteers is very sobering.
There are 158 very steep steps down to the station which is fine if you have no mobility issues although coming back up is a different matter! I’m not sure how much the public liability insurance would be to open the onsite lift to the general public but I think most people would pay £3.00 to get down to the station or £5.00 return which depending on the cost of the insurance could possibly bring in additional income to such a worthy cause.

Visited the Lifeboat station while on holiday. Such an amazing place where a volunteer talked us through the emergency procedures and provided lots of history for us. There were puzzles to keep my 9 year old entertained and gifts/ accessories to buy. The station is funded by donations so please take a visit, donate what you can and buy gifts if you're able as all the money goes towards helping this amazing charity.

Well worth a walk down the 120 steps and back up to see the lifeboat and get a talk from a volunteer on the history of the RNLI and the current lifeboat station. Nice gift shop too!
Top tip - make sure you’ve not left your walking poles behind before you climb all the way back up the steps!!

Dear Lizard team, thank you for helping us on the morning of 20 August 2024. Al and I are deeply grateful. Your competence and kindness are outstanding. Our engine cut off again after that but we were nearer the Brixham anchorage and managed to arrive. Since then Al repaired the engine, it turned out the big waves of that night had slushed the diesel growth inside and although we had a new filter, it had blocked it. Al changed the filter and only after a week it got blocked again. Al changed it again and will clean the tank when we arrive to our home marina. Lots of love from all of us on Westerly King’s Angel. Wishing you a calmer autumn 🍂 season.

Excellent Lifeboat station to visit. As well as being able to see the boat, there were interesting displays covering historical rescues, right up to the most recent rescues logged in a book. The children's area had some dressing up clothes that my three thoroughly enjoyed. The setting is picturesque, and there are photos of how the station was built. The guide on the day we visited was informative and engaging, telling us about the practicalities of launching, and answering our questions. We spent an hour here.

This one is pretty special!
The location, the building structure, the very informative staff, this station is definitely worth a visit if you are near.
Only downside is, there are a LOT of stairs to climb back up! Keeps you fit!

Heading out into the quiet corner of England this is the most southerly point of the country. The RNLI head out in all kinds of weather to help those who have gotten into difficulty. The Lizard lifeboat house is perched above a cove. The only way to get to it is to navigate down 153 steps. However once there you are greeted by friendly staff who will answer any questions you have about the boat or what they do. You are not allowed to look around the boat unless it's a special lifeboat day which means they can open it up. However for kids there is enough to do and also a little shop.

Opening times are 1030 till 1600 however it is best to call ahead in case for any reason it's shut on the day. Well worth a little visit
