A proper charity shop. For both the charity and the poorer community. Understanding- human element to their service. Always looking out for the more vulnerable and are generous to those who are struggling. Keeps their loyal customers. Great staff. I did prefer the time when there was more stuff of the shelf rather than their new organised minimalist approach but I understand it’s safer and better to manage and often the stock rotates and they change their shelves.

Editing my review from years back, while I still agree with my initial points, low costs, etc, the staff have become less friendly over time. There are definetely some very friendly staff but also some very rude ones. Good on some days, not good on others. That combined with other charity shops opening in the St Austell area means I can't recommend St Austell Tanya's Courage anymore.

edit 2022: staff have been incredibly hostile in the st austell shop. they discriminated against me because of my autism. do not recommend.
