Had to take 3 young pigeons that hadn't quite fleged. They accepted them very kindly.
We've taken other injured and young wildlife here before. The staff are kind and you can see they care.

Went to the open day and learnt all about the work they do here. Interesting lectures helped enhance the experience. Shame we didn't see any of the animals but they need to be kept away from human contact.

I found a very young herring gull chick that had fallen from its nest. I took it to Secret World, Highbridge, where I've taken them in the past. It was around 7.30 pm. I was politely told by the woman in reception that they're unable to take birds at the moment due to Avian Flu, and she called a colleague to explain further. They were clearly sad about the situation and said I could take it to a local vet who would check it over and arrange for it to go to the RSPCA in West Hatch where they have facilities for birds which meet the Gov. requirements. So off I went to the Quantock Veterinary Hospital in Bridgewater. Secret World had phoned ahead, so I was expected, and the chick was warmly welcomed. What an adventure, for me and the chick. And so lovely that all of these people would go to so much trouble to save one bird!
I already donate monthly to Secret World as they do amazing work in rescuing wildlife. Sorry this is so long, but huge thanks to all these wonderful people...

A bit disappointed really. Not so many attractions.
I know the policies about the animals have changed but I think it could have had more entertainment.
Ferret racing and maybe bring in some falconers etc. This is for the last open day.
