I cannot recommend Sunshine Support enough. When our application for an EHCP was declined, I hired SS advocacy service to help me find my way through what felt like quite an intimidating system. Our advocate, Emily, took all the pressure and weight off our shoulders, explaining the process, getting to know our child, and taking charge. She supported us every step of the way, stepping in when needed, always ready to fight our corner. Happy to say that the LA overturned their decision with Emily's help and support. I would not hesitate to reach out again. If you are worried about battling this process, then I would recommend letting SS take the pressure off you.

Sunshine Support is a fantastic advice and advocacy service for parents of children with additional needs across the UK.
They offer free advice, reasonably priced membership, or opportunity to attend webinars as a one-off.
I contacted SS for advocacy services to help me work with a mainstream school to implement a meaningful IDP. Kelly was fantastic in the meeting, respectfully challenging and suggesting new options for support. Kelly supported me in my application to secure a specialist school placement, and Kelly and Rachel helped me draft educational tribunal papers. Without Kelly and Rachel's support, we wouldn't have achieved the positive outcome that we needed. I can't recommend SS enough!

I attended several webinars delivered by Sunshine Support, which were incredibly helpful and informative. One webinar was focused on Appeals and Tribunals, which I anticipated I would be facing for my daughter’s school placement. This webinar was delivered by Kelly Jarvis, who was SO knowledgable, and I immediately requested to access advocacy support from Kelly. The cost was extremely reasonable.

Kelly helped me to secure a placement at an independent specialist school without needing Tribunal. There has been nothing quite like knowing that Kelly was just at the end of an email, with so much information and case law ready to go!

From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to Kelly for securing a bright future for my daughter, which she so rightly deserves.

I cant recommend Kelly Jarvis from Sunshine Support highly enough, from thinking there was no hope, Kelly has been amazing and managed negiotiate with the LA to send my daughter to our preferred school. I couldnt have made this journey without her. Sunshine Support..... you have validated our concerns and empowered us to navigate the tricky road to EHCNA and then when this was declined, you were ready, unphased, to signpost then next phase. You knew when to suggest that many cases do get declined, you signposted and sat along side us at mediation, you celebrated when EHCNA was finally agreed. Everything was underpinned with case law, and my child's needs at the centre.
On that glorious day, when we heard he was, indeed in need of an EHCP, and a draft was to be written up, you too celebrated, but you also reminded me, that too would need "to check" the draft carefully.
By this point my hyperfocus had met overwhelm. But you knew this, and today your feedback to my Local Authority carried us through the finish line! A truely monumental day in my parental achievement... and soon, we will see the real live document that will shape the educational provision my amazing, wilful and challenging boy needs to thrive.
I love your posts, your presence on Facebook, thst just seems to have been written or said on exactly the right moment for that chapter in my journey.
