Whilst we were staying at Chatsworth Caravan Club site, my wife booked us in for Sunday lunch.
I looked at some of the reviews and thought "oh heck what have we let ourselves in for." Some were not very complimentary. However, our experience was completely different.
We arrived earlier than we had booked and were met with a friendly smile and shown to our table. We ordered drinks and they came within a couple of minutes, at which time we asked if we could order food, and within a minute, the waitress arrived and took our order, which arrived within 10 minutes of ordering.
OK, it was Sunday lunch, and you'd expect roasts to be 'half ready', but they were well cooked, hot, and there plenty on the plate! No hint of warmed up potatoes, dodgy veg, etc as per some of these reviews.
The place was very busy, and I was expecting to wait, but that is the quickest I've been served anywhere, including those fast food drive-through places!
If we were staying longer, I would visit again. I definitely recommend the Sunday roasts.
Thank you, Wheatsheaf!

Ate here for 3 nights running during the Chatsworth Country Show. Safe to be said it was busy VERY busy. The staff do their utter best and trouble shoot any problems they get. (For example) First evening was fine, sat down had a lovely meal. We booked on the way out for the following 2 nights. The second night (allot more busy) we arrived only to find out the booking wasn't made or had not been put on. Manager remembered us and was very apologetic, we were squeezed onto a small table, but given the alternative of no food we were very happy, again amazing food and service.
Third night we had a table in the bar area, so had to order all food at the bar. 6 of us in total. We were very surprised (and so was the waitress) when she brought out our deserts before the starters!
Again this was not problem and was dealt with quickly and professionally. The rest of meal was hot and tasty, with fresh puddings coming out at the end.

If only all restaurants and pubs could operate like these guys when busy it would be great! During quieter times (or even moderately busy times) this pub would be a lovely place to go for a meal or drink if in the area. I look forward to coming back knowing how good they are.

Super big room for this price! so cheap breakfast but high quality food! So friendly and professional stuff! I was worried about noise Cause it's next to street and over the pub, but it's actually very quiet! And also its winter but room or bed temperature is not cold!!!! Absolutely 100/100 for everything!!! And they have all the kind of good beer as well

We stopped off for some lunch today and were very disappointed. Firstly the food really wasn’t up to Marston’s standards. We chose the £15.75 lunch option which was either starter and main or main and desert. I order the main and drinks and paid on the advice of the barman who said it would be fine to order the deserts later. When I went back to order the deserts however I was informed I would have to pay again!! I was under impression I had paid up front for the entire deal!!! The lady who took my desert order informed me she would be over to take my payment once she had worked out how much it was!!! Then there was the food. My wife’s veggie option was served with what was obviously left over new potatoes which were dry and unappealing. The “salad” was a couple of lettuce leaves with some dressing on. Hardly worthy of the name salad. My fish and chips were ok in that they were edible but the portions looked like they were for a child. Certainly not worth £15.75 each especially since we didn’t get our desert in that price!!! We will not be returning!!!

My review is based on an unfortunate booking. I originally booked for one night, but back in June, I realised that a wedding we were attending would require a 2 night stay. I telephoned directly and changed the booking, for which I received an email confirmation. Three days before our trip, I received confirmation for just one night. I telephoned and sent an email with the confirmation for a two night stay. No explanation received. We booked an alternative venue. I called in prior to our stay to ask why I had a confirmation for two nights, but I was met with a hostile response as though it was my fault. Ideally, an apology would have put an end to the matter, but I still do not have an adequate explanation.
