Our party of five booked in advance for ‘The Wonders of our Universe’ and it’s a good job as it was a sell out.
We really enjoyed the show and staff were helpful.
We were sat on the back row of the theatre we were in (not sure if there are more than one) and had a great view.
The steps from the bar area to the back row were poorly lit and the hand rail wasn’t continuous so care was needed. The steps in the theatre between the seats had nothing to hold on to so again, if you had a seat on one of the mid rows, care would be needed.
There are no arm rests on the seats in this theatre.
The ladies toilet facilities were clean with a communal hand washing area.
I would visit again.

We took a group of older people to see Jack and the Beanstalk yesterday.

I contacted the venue en route to say our minibus had been delayed and to check if we'd still be able to get into the auditorium a few minutes after the performance started.

The woman I spoke to was very helpful and understanding and said they would delay the start of the performance by a few minutes for us, which they did.

Staff were waiting for us on arrival and were all very helpful helping our members to their seats.

The panto was excellent and all our members had a great time ☺️

Attended the Garden Party event on Saturday - absolutely brilliant day. Loads to see and do and the weather was kind too. Great to see the whole centre doing so well and it being so busy with increased footfall and everyone enjoying it. Had a good chat with some staff from the Civic (never been in before) and, as a result, we have booked in for two shows in October. Happy days and looking forward to it.

I visited the Civic to watch the pantomine Cinderella. Fantastic production, all the actors and dancers did amazing. The staff at the venue are kind, welcoming and very friendly.

This is a quite intimate venue without being cramped. Comfortable, modern facilities in and around a grand structure in keeping with Barnsleys centre. Quiet mid week performance of Jane Austens Lady Susan. Excellent production.

Lovely venue Saw Show of Hands new show. As usual for these places no Brandy at the Bar. The only other criticism - Security staff NOT NEEDED and the one at the front messing with AND could hear her radio during performance. Totally un necessary to have SECURITY presence AT ALL especially idiot ones as above.

We all had a fantastic time at the panto, catered for kids an adults alike. Such fun ! 😁. Lovely idea to have photos with the cast after. Will definitely be back next year ❤️

This is my 2nd visit to Barnsley Civic and it did not disappoint.
The theatre is not too big and there is a small area for dancing.The seats are comfortable and roomy.
There was quite a long queue for drinks at the interval although these could be pre ordered.
