This is a volunteer run community garden, funded by donations and worked on by volunteers just a few hours a week.
You can't believe how much they get done, turning a derelict field with nothing but brambles and rubbish into a beautiful and productive space for everyone to enjoy.
Anyone is welcome to help out and even if you can only litter pick or wave a paintbrush round you will be able to keep Martha's beautiful.

A little gem. A lovely community garden full of beautiful flowers and activities to entertain little children. Worth a visit to spend an hour or two sat on the garden bench, especially on a sunny day. Parking is close by and so are the shops so you could pick up a sandwich or fish and chips and eat them sat at the picnic bench.
I had a nice chat with a lovely lady garden volunteer whilst watching my granddaughter playing in the sand pit.

Charming "informal gardens" created, maintained and still being developed by local volunteers. Welcoming Yorkshire theme!
Situated in Hoyland, South of Barnsley centre. Surrounded by free parking and good selection of shops etc.
"Owd Martha" was now-demolished clock tower, erection of which was funded by Victorian business woman Martha Knowles.
Gardens (not visible from road so you need to park or get off bus) are divided into separate areas, some with seating. Features include lawns, raised flower beds, pergola, model of old town hall etc.
