They had a "gold" curb chain necklace which they told us was valued at £400 for sale at £150. My partner bought me it and when she gave me it I was not happy with the weight and I could see edges where the links had been folded on some of the links.
Alarm bells were ringing, it just didn't feel or look right to me and so we took it to a reputable jewellers/pawn shop who immediately said that they were not convinced that it was genuine and so they cleaned, tested it twice in front of us just to be sure and it was NOT gold and that it was only the clasp that was 9 carat gold with a stamp.
We took it to the branch in town but they said that we had to take it back to where we bought it from.
When we got there (here to this store) they were waiting for us because the branch in town had rang them ahead of us and told them that we were coming for some reason.
They had told us that it had nothing to do with them when we went in!?
Anyway, the Manager insisted that it was real but admitted to us that it had NOT been tested or valued and the staff new that they shouldn't have put it out for sale until the store had had this done.
He gave us our money back after some resistance from him and said he would have it tested himself like he didn't believe we were telling the truth!
Maybe he did, maybe he put it back out for sale because he kept repeating that the clasp had a stamp meaning that we all must be wrong!
I was massively disappointed mainly that the necklace was fake as was my partner as she new how much I wanted a curb chain but it WAS fake and the clasp was the only piece of hallmarked gold on the item but also with the way that the situation was handled.
And so if you are going to buy jewellery from here then buyer beware because nothing was as it seemed on this occasion!

I have worked for St. Luke's for nearly 18 years. 8 bosses 3 shops. I have wonderful people I work with, especially the boss Steve Evans. Never have I heard any staff being impolite or rude. Keep up the good work Steve and staff

Friendly staff(hence the 2 stars), decent but stale store. They won't accept Scottish money, which is ridiculous but typical of English stores. Pitiful excuse of 'it could be fake' given, but as always it's just ignorance.

Staff so rude, horrible experience with my daughter which left her in tears. She was already upset alittle just for the woman working there to shout at her "NO CRYING IN MY STORE" how dare you feel the need to shout at my daughter, absolutely horrible woman.

Answering the phone is always a good option, another option in helping you to answer the phone is put the hand set on the phone thus making it possible to answer calls when the phone rings, otherwise the caller will only get an engaged tone!
27 attempts in one afternoon?
Now I’m off to the council tip with goods that could’ve put money into a charitable cause… 🤷‍♂️

Worst charity shop, rude nasty staff. Turns down items I try and donate, even stuff I have already brought there. Says don't follow health and safety guidelines but next week I see same thing being
sold. Makes there own rules up

One of the best charity shops I've been in. Large and well organised and a great selection of books and DVDs.
