I’ve always loved this charity shop, however there’s been a couple things now while in there that have made me question where the charitable aspect of the shop is?

First around a year or so ago I was told that I couldn’t buy an item because it was being held for a vintage re-seller! There was about 7 items of clothing being held back! Defeating the point of a charity shop where people who have low income can buy things they wouldn’t normally be able to buy! I find this hugely problematic.

And then I was in recently and saw a book I loved but it hadn’t been priced yet- so we waited as asked while he looked it up online, just then for another membership of staff to say we’d have to come back (not that she addressed us) we were cold shouldered at little) How much “research” needs to be done on an item? This is not an antique shop so I’m not sure why it operates as one.

An item being held off from being sold because they need to compare it to how much it’s on eBay…I don’t usually write reviews for anything but these things felt very wrong to me.

St Luke's Shappy Chic Charity Store is an interesting approach to raising money for a good cause. Lots of older items donated including antiques for sale, with some real bargains. Well worth a visit.

This store is the closest thing to a charitable department store I've ever found.
Very high-quality and plenty of unusual goods from what I saw on my brief visit today.

My husband and I entered this shop and the attitude of the 2 'volunteers' was so objectionable that I turned around and walked straight out. This was afternoon of march 3oth 2022.
