I was an apprentice at Wembury Surgery, under achievement training. Some of the key benefits of learning while earning a wage is how you are on the job training, therefore knowing you will be achieving an end goal (qualification) while also having the feel of the working environment including getting paid.
I also required knowledge in different aspects of education such as finances and coaching skills which led to me having a broad knowledge of my organisation and business fundamentals generically. I feel as though working as an apprentice, has opened many opportunities for me within administration roles and the qualification I have gained. This will massively help me in future to secure a job role within administration and looks great on my CV.
Being an apprentice under achievement training, I have consistently felt supported and valued. My tutor, Brittany, was always super helpful and understanding of any guidance I may need and always catered for me in the appropriate manor.

Funding…. My most recent experience with the college has been incredibly poor. As a single mum, to a 10 month old baby trying to get a qualification to get back to work, I am now £2000 in debt due to communication being very slow, rude, and unhelpful from City College Plymouth funding Team. Despite trying the get access to the form since before starting the course I apparently didn’t qualify for any reimbursement of the £1000s spent on childcare from credit cards just to attend my course.
The college itself is lovely and my tutor was amazing but if you need funding for childcare I pray you don’t have to go through the same as I have.
I have left the course to try and pay off the debt and deal with the physical and mental effects it has caused.

Kat was wonderful. She was so encouraging week after week. I’ve wanted to work with children all of my life. At times I felt my anxiety holding me back. Kat made me feel so at ease. She was helpful, informative and friendly. I’m looking forward to taking on my level 3 in September. Having Kat as my tutor has taught me that I really can do anything when I apply myself fully. She was quick when giving me feedback on my units and was quick to reply to my questions via email. Thank you Achievement training.

I would not have passed without her support. Leigh was also amazing and supported me through my maths level 2 qualification.
