Having just finished a quantity of building materials emblazoned with the Chaplins logo I set off to re-stock. Despite the bags advertising a closing time of 8.30 pm I knew that this was now 5.30pm. Rushing down I arrived at 5.20pm to find the building/garden centre were well and truly closed. I entered the main building in an attempt to find if the closing times had changed again. The 5.30 time was confirmed with a very unapologetic insistence that there had not been an early closure. Following this I returned to my car to find that the on - line time was still only 5.29pm. I have been a long term customer of Chaplins but there are local alternatives.

Chaplin's is a great place to go for almost all things. I love their crafting section and the female attendant up there is so helpful and friendly. The selection of tools, car items, general stuff for the house and their garden sections are brilliant. If your looking for old fashioned sweets they are also sold here in small bags which cost just £1... I could go on but best you just go look for yourself.
Then to top it all off is bowlers café a lovely place to sit for a drink and cake (some amazing cakes) or even a full hot meal and all so reasonably priced. Love a family trip to Chaplin's

Very rude member of staff. I asked at Customer Services if they stocked a certain bulb . Graham ( ginger hair with less enthusiasm and energy than a sloth ) on the Customer Service desk, head down across the keyboard didn’t even bother to pick his head up when I asked if they stocked them he said ‘ the bulbs are over on ironmongery ‘ . Well thanks for your effort & delightful service Graham at Chaplins ! You reminded me why I don’t shop there .

Went today 18th for printer paper, a very helpful cheerful lady pointed the way, at checkout another smiling cheerful staff member. All in all a very pleasant experience in a well stocked diverse store. Should be better utilised! Highly recommended

I had small breakfast which didn’t come with toast so added extra, two pieces but only required one slice. Had to ask for butter also serviette. Egg was snotty. The food came in a cold plate so by the time I was ready to eat my meal was cold. First and last visit I’m afraid.

Full of anything and everything. It is a bit chaotic in there, but you will, with perseverance, find what you are looking for.
It reminds me of the supermarkets in Central American countries, where you build a warehouse and pack it to the rafters.
The main downside is that the aisles are just about wide enough to squeeze past one other shopper before having to turn back to the end of an aisle.
However, if you want a one-stop shop, this is the place for you.
I would suggest, though, that you go midweek to avoid the problems with lack of shopper space.

I thought you are aloud take dogs into Chaplins store because I took my small dog in there and the man said I needed to carry my pup or put her in a trolly ,she is going to be my assistant dog ,she is well behaved

This is a discount superstore with a large range of items from food, household and gardening to DIY. I tend to visit the shop for craft supplies but inevitably leave the shop with other things like herbs and spices, DIY items etc.. It does what it says on the tin and represents good value overall.
