Brilliant place. Staff were friendly during my stay. Breakfast meals were excellent with a buffet served by staff then pick your own fruit and accessories. Dinner was as well a buffet served by staff with cakes you could pick yourself. Brilliant classroom lessons that the staff brought on us. Rooms were cleaned and well looked after. All rooms are maintained and everything including shops and onsite restaurant is maintained at a high standard. My favourite meal was the pasta with meatballs on Tuesday. Itโ€™s a lovely place for a level and gcse students. Would recommend this place for any people fascinated in ecology courses.

I attended a week long geology, botany and marine biology course run by the Field Study Council (FSC). It was thoroughly enjoyable and very informative. The Centreโ€™s staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts and dinners were excellent and varied. My room was basic but comfortable and clean. The location was charming in a secluded valley. I have attended other FSC courses elsewhere and knew what to expect - this is not a luxury holiday but a place for serious studying!

I recently stayed at Nettlecombe Court for 4 nights and had a fantastic experience. The staff were brilliant- extremely friendly and always ready to help. The food was lovely, offering a variety of options. The rooms exceeded my expectations, my en-suite was excellent. Overall, it was a great stay and I would highly recommend.

Nettlecombe hosts field studies courses so it's a hostel bedroom experience, set in a grade 1 listed building. The staff are all friendly, helpful and efficient. The lounges have a really endearing old country house feel so there is room to sit and read or to play. There is a cosy and well stocked bar where you might well meet enthusiasts of botany, geology or lichen. If you love trees, then this place is paradise. There are veteran oaks, beech and sweet chestnut all about. I absolutely loved staying at Nettlecombe.

No words. Came her for a school trip and the experience was terrible. Firstly, as soon as we arrived we noticed the โ€˜cleanโ€™ sheets were filthy, suggesting little to no effort from the staff to make the stay nice. The food was horrible, with not only being served โ€˜foodโ€™ that was different to the menu given, leaving those with allergies having to eat other food. The food itself was incredibly bland and had an almost inedible texture, forcing us to resort to the local McDonalds to receive our essential daily nutrients. As for the learning experience, the teacher (Hannah) seemed incredibly sarcastic and unenthusiastic, leaving much to be desired. To make things worse, we were left with no running water on the final two days of our stay. This meant no showers, hand washing or toilet flushing for anyone. Only positive was the location, with nice fields around it, however not enough to compensate the poor experience.

Rooms were clean and tidy. We came as a school group for two nights. To undertake fieldwork at Porlock bay. Our tutor Ed was very enthusiastic and flexible.
Pupils were pleasantly surprised by the communal bathroom which was spotless, modern and clean.
Some pupils and staff had access to en-suite again clean and tidy.
Being a listed building services as expected.
Breakfast was great. Lunch is a packed lunch option which is made yourself using pantry. Dinner could have extra options with some fussy eaters. Perhaps chips or pizza as an extra option.
Will use again.

I attended a great course on lichens with the benefit of perfect surroundings and staying on site. Facilities good. No phone signal but good wifi so keeping in touch was easy. The staff were all very welcoming and helpful.
