My experience with Wirral Mind has been poor. I waited 11 months from the referral to being given a slot (and I suspect I only got that because I e-mailed about it a few times once 10 months had gone by with no update at all).

The counsellor I had made no attempt to establish any rapport or make me feel at ease, and 95% of the sessions were him staring at me in silence. I understand these things differ for everyone, but I found this approach very uncomfortable and had brought it up a few times politely, to no avail.

I decided to quit my sessions, but put in a request for my counsellor's session notes (which a patient is legally entitled to, and was agreed to), and have still not received them, despite 3 months going by. I have e-mailed for an update but that has been ignored.

Overall, I found the service to be quite mismanaged and the quality of counselling very low.

I suffer and have suffered from ongoing depression and anxiety for many years, Iv recently started counselling at Wirral Mind in St Caths, Bhead and I have never felt so at ease and incredibly welcome here. I was so anxious doing face to face therapy but it was the best decision I could have made. Only 2 weeks in and looking forward to my next session. Not sure if I’m allowed to mention the Lady’s name so delete if not allowed but Jackie is incredible at listening but also helping you to open up. Thank you Wirral Mind.

I've been coming to Wirral mind for some time now and it's a well organised safe place for anyone to be if they are having hard times in their life, all the staff are very professional, a great cafe with very good prices, and fantastic activities run throughout the week to suit everyone's needs.

An amazing charity ❤️ Wirral mind saved me when I was at my absolute lowest, I am still working with them till this day, I am awaiting to use their be-friending service and currently i have weekly visits from my Mind outreach worker, Sam.
Sam is an absolute credit to the company, she is amazing at her role and a great shoulder to lean on and is helping me become more confident by the week. She honesty deserves a praise she’s fantastic! Thank you so much Wirral mind for the work you do! I also really enjoy the fitness groups you set up, it has helped me speak to new people and feel more comfortable in the company of others. I would recommend this amazing charity and their services. They are absolutely brilliant. 👌🏽

I attended a well being for women workshop this morning, It was engaging, uplifting and supportive.

Claire was friendly and knowledgable, I felt at ease from the start. It was great to share this learning experience, spend time amongst a lovely group of women, connect and hold space for one another.

I would recommend the workshops to everyone, it's a hidden gem in that not everyone is aware of its existence and the varied timetable and workshops available to all.

Very rude, unhelpful & unprofessional service! The 'counsellors' are nasty, patronising and downright discriminatory! When you try to complain Gordon just ignores you and dumps you off the waiting list! Avoid these people, their aim is to make peoples mental health worse!

Really REALLY kind and caring and loverly people. The difference in attitude between them and the nhs/mental health services/social workers is like night and day. THEYRE SO KIND AND GENUINE AND HELPFULL. I cant stress enough how much the people ive interacted with really do care.
I was assessed fairly quickly by a very nice guy at st caths and now i see a loverly lady once a week... theyve made me feel safe and they really do respect your confidentiality and theyre giving me help i have been trying to get nhs wise for YEARS. If youre thinking about getting help or just want to see if its for you id say go for it theyre really helpfull...
Bad experiences with gp/hr/nhs mental health stuff made me so nervous but straight away you can feel and see the difference. Cant put into words any other way how genuine they are. Theyre there cos they want to help people theres no trace of the worn down/apathetic/burnt out attitude that goes thru the nhs. Even compared to private councelling (which was good when my gp just couldnt get me anything for 18months etc) these guys are better, the lady i see is voulenteering her time. It really shows through that they want to be there and they want to help.
As i said i went to st caths which felt easier to get to. It is quiet and confidencial and calming.
