Went to the model railway exhibition over the Easter weekend which we thoroughly enjoyed. The people there were lovely, had some really interesting conversations about railway history, local history and future events. Such a beautiful building, a real treasure and an absolute delight to visit. A really enjoyable Saturday afternoon. Can't wait to go back.

A true community resource for local history and family history. A unique facility for the people of Hull. Run by volunteers, everyone is welcome and given help to do their research.

I used to visit this building back in the days of it being a library, but now, due to the group of volunteers the place is now a history centre where you can research many subjects of historical significance. The building was neglected after being shut down as a library but the volunteers worked wonders to restore it to its former glory and indeed it hasn't lost any of its former grandeur. Talks on various subjects take place throughout the year, they also have many items for sale, books, postcard photographs, pens, the sale of these items help with the running costs of the place. Donations are welcome but there is no pressure to contribute, and if you do want to research a subject those same volunteers will help out and show you where to look amongst the archives. Opening times varying so check first on their website.
