I’m just appalled by the so called support I’ve been receiving from Pat who is supposed to be a support worker. Yesterday I received a tirade of negative comments and insults from him. I am losing my home in February and this man is supposed to be supporting me through this process. I have chronic and degenerative health issues and I cannot believe this man is working within this organisation. His demeanour verges on misogyny. He actually called me back on his work mobile to tell me he was going to ensure that the centre would no longer give me any further support. He did this because I challenged him over his communication skills and the way in which he spoke to me. I myself have worked within housing support, Drug and Alcohol support and have an extensive nursing/health background, I cannot believe a person such as this man is working within this environment with vulnerable people.

I went to them 17.3.24 to help a refugee friend who is completely homeless. I found the lady very abrupt, unfriendly, she made him feel really uncomfortable.
She made me feel uncomfortable. She lacked any empathy for his situation...and her unwillingness to engage with his situation was awful. She had absolutely no people skills!! There was no clarity in what he should do next! She gave us a couple of numbers and sent us on our way! Complete waste of time and resources that place! They need people who show compassion and really want to help people in dire situations, not people who judge and make them feel rushed and like the're disturbing their coffee breaks.

Has gone down hill since they took over from adulam, lacks direction and clarity on what they “do and don’t do”. I have managed to stabilise my housing thanks to my worker who was a godsend, but I couldn’t help but notice the other people I knew, also getting help just left to ‘wait on’ things to be done for them...rather than be encouraged to do for themselves. This is what’s wrong with society, power is taken away and not given to those in need! Shameful!
But I guess it’s about money and overheads, and not the journey of the individual and holistic support to achieve a goal! Surely the aim
Is to help people not need help...and be equipped to resolve things themselves? Or maybe I’m wrong...but that’s what I wanted/needed.

The Whitechapel Centre has been an absolute godsend for me. When I found myself homeless, they stepped in and did everything they could to help me. Filling in forms, ringing around for me and even just being there for a cup of tea when I had nowhere else to go. Thank you so much! 😊

I left in tears to the point where I was throwing up. No compassion, no help, Pete made me feel absolutely awful and judged entirely.
