Preston Minister formerly St John the Divine is quite close to Preston Station.

It is a fine imposing building.

If travelling a distance, it is worthwhile to contact the church office. My visit was facilitated by the very helpful staff.

I was incidentally shown around by the vicar who was a very welcoming and warm man.

The church has an active outreach programme to all sectors of the community. When I visited there was a job finders support session happening, helping people into work.

The church has some very beautiful stain glass. And whilst the worship area is more, to my eye centred on the nave, the choir and sanctuary area is used by youth. The choir stalls look quite ample compared to some I have seen in monastic settings.

The font has moved station and is beside “The Loyal Chapel” , The North Lancastrian Regiment. And there are many memorials to officers and men who served and those who died.

I visited to see the Hans Feibusch painting at the “West” end of the church opposite the altar. The scene is a post resurrection appearance of Christ to his disciples. Through it is often said to be the sermon on the mount. It is post resurrection, because the working cartoon of the painting shows the wounds of Christ in his hands (these are not apparent in the final seen version). With permission one can go into the balcony below the painting and see the work up close. It is dated in the bottom left. In the balcony one can also see up close the details of two of the carved/moulded heads that appear at the top of the columns and the gold angels supports the roof.

A visit to the church is highly rewarding. It is a busy city church but a place of quiet and prayer.

One truly amazing place. Everyone on the team are just absolutely lovely. They are so welcoming, which makes the experience 10x better. A church where you can truly be yourself and most importantly the Holy Spirit. I have been coming here for over a year now. My experience so far has been one of the greatest aspects to my life. I’ve reconnected with my faith and have grown a closer connection to Jesus 🥰

Minster seems like it has something for everyone. The church service itself is a mixture of modern and tradition and caters for the young and old(er). They have so many groups and teams that you can join so it's a great place to make friends!

I've only attended the last couple of Sundays and wow I got such a warm welcome. Such a lovely congregation and amazing pastors too. I've now put my name down for the ALFA course and starting to feel a little bit more confident around people. The church building its self is stunning with a modern service 5 stars in my opinion X
