I went there for two months as an innocent volunteer. No one warned me that the Residents ( mostly Male) look like Rock stars.
Be warned Ladies. There's a don't look and don't touch austere policy in place. Hard for them because any lingering looks or possibilities of attraction leads to the residents forced to leave or having to make rash and impulsive decisions to move in together or take them home with you when you barely know them. I would advocate a healthier approach to possibilities of relationships developing giving people time to get to know each other. You can't throw a group of people together and not expect attraction and romance to develop. It's medieval.
In addition I felt there were some certainly one resident who had complex mental health needs and no internal expertise to help this person and previous guests ( as they're called). Struggling with addiction and complex mental health is a hard task to manage alone. I was told repeatedly this is neither a mental health facility or a Therapeutic community. It seems lack of adequate mental health services and accommodation are the reason some people are being inappropriately placed here. Pilsdon malling community is great for those recovering addicts who just need a safe space to heal and grow stronger.
People with more complex needs should not be placed here.

It's nice to know there are places in the world assisting people with getting their lives back on track. The Pilsdon is a fine community assistance project; it will always be for me the place to purchase excellent home grown produce, the fruits of their labour.
