A great place to come to if you want to learn to sail. It is a very warm, welcoming, friendly club with exceptionally good prices for their RYA dinghy sailing courses.
I had previously been crewing on yachts on the South coast, mainly pulling on lines but really wanted to understand sailing better and be confident to take control of a boat and was told that dinghy sailing was the best way to learn to sail properly.
I went to visit this club and was impressed with the friendliness of the people around and the facilities available.
Courses to learn to sail here offer a huge discount if you are a member.
I had compared prices to do a dinghy course from London to Portsmouth to Wales and Gravesend Sailing Club had the best prices by far so I signed up for membership immediately.
Since joining I have been able to crew on dinghy races, cruiser races and have attended a very good social event as well as completing RYA Dinghy Level 1.
I am booked onto RYA Dinghy Level 2 and plan to hire out their dinghys for days out on the river once I successfully complete it.
If you are looking for a place to learn to sail affordably, I can highly recommend visiting Greavesend Sailing Club and seeing for yourself. I'm so glad I did :))

Such a friendly club for all ages. Plenty of opportunity for socialising, even for non-sailors like me, and not having a boat presents no problem as they will do their best to find crewing opportunities for you. Evening events, such as "Knowledge and Nosh" to learn about sailing and river related activities.

I have been raised by GSC and think it's the best sailing club on the Thames. It is friendly, with a varied social and sailing programme. Their training is outstanding.
