Hi all
Our father was a recent resident at Pickwick House, Wombwell Hall from Jan 1 to his passing on Easter Sunday 1925..
On behalf of all the Ralphies I would like to say a heartfelt thanks to all the excellent and caring staff.
We found that all his needs were met
with a 100 % devotion to ensuring his stay was as comfortable as humanely possible in often difficult situations.
I have to say however that the decor is in need of an upgrade altho I understand this is on the to do list.
In summation thank you for providing a dignified and sensitive service at the end for our father.
I would not hesitate in recommending Wombwell Hall to future residents.

My father was placed at Wombwell Hall by the NHS, who had made the care home aware of his care needs before placing him there. Their website states that they are able to support patients with the conditions that the NHS told both me and the care home my father had.

After approx 3 months they physically evicted him by calling an ambulance and sending him back to the hospital because in their words “they couldn’t meet his care needs” but when I asked what his care needs were, they couldn’t tell me as they hadn’t completed an assessment.

I’ve not been impressed with the service provided and wouldn’t recommend them

Mum was in step down care from hospital.
She was there for about a month and due to family obligations I only visited 3 times.
Ist visit was fine but the meal I saw was absolutely tiny ( maybe it was what my mum chose but she couldn't remember).
2nd visited there was a spillage of tea and water on the floor which I cleaned up. Her food table was dirty but no food was on it.
Her bedding was urine soaked.
3rd visit room was clean but bedding still wet.
Also my mum kept raising the head of the bed so she was slumped in a heap at the foot of the bed. I never saw her sit in the chair. She never visited the lounge by choice.
I am absolutely sure the staff do their very best at what is really a thankless task.
My mum is home now and is demanding and rude but only to me ( she lives with me).
You guys do a fantastic jobs despite my observations.

Don't be put off by the fact that this place has a "needs improvement" CQC rating.
Micawber house may have needed a little tarting up but the staff there were amazing with us when my dad was taken there as a hospice place was unavailable.
Dad's nurse Tracey, couldn't have been more comforting and professional, this allowed us to feel safe in the knowledge that Dad was being cared for in his last few days. Thanks to all at Micawber house.

I recently spent a week at Wombwell Hall for respite. My stay was in Weller house and the care, kindness and compassion shown to me was excellent. The staff went to no end of trouble to meet my needs. This was my first experience of respite away from my own home and overall the experience for me and my family was extremely positive. Thanks to Hayley, Pat, Wene and all the staff.

This is my 2nd bad review in 2 days
.I was under the impression that your stuff was personal to you I was seriously mistaken. One of my bags was tipped out and when I asked why she just laughed at me.now

I can't reach the stuff that was in the bag.i believe it is personal and should remain so. Also tea tonight needed sorting out j ust had 1

round of sandwiches. I don't eat sandwiches so I suppose I just have to go without.i shall be glad when I'm discharged as its unbearable here.

You looked after my Mum for only a week but i cant thank you enough for the support you gave her and us family members. The Pickwick staff were amazing and allowed us the time to be with Mum and went above and beyond allowing for Mum’s needs. I will forever be grateful to the staff for their compassion, kindness, helpfulness and their acceptance of us family members who were there 24/7 and probably being a nuisance at times. Thank you Pickwick staff X

You were a sympathetic, helpful ear to guide us through mums care with you.
You showed great dignity and respect, you were supportive kind and understanding.
The care mum and us as a family received from the start to the end of her life was truly amazing.
