David Ross Trust gave their word, promise of financial support with school bills when I, single mum & person was seriously ill. At time David Ross girlfriend (maybe wife now ~ Pilkington) spoke on telephone confirming support with finances. This after Head of School's written proof my son attended the school ~ & my health issues as requested. All done & confirmed. But Nothing, not one penny ever given. Just hiding, silence. Myself ran into debt after my son allowed to stay at school with promise of David Ross's Trust Financial Support!! Nothing, Very Charitable.

As a former student of a secondary DRET academy, I can tell you right now to avoid any academy chains, but especially this one. Firstly they have a one size fits all approach to everything. The atmosphere of the school is toxic and students constantly feel under pressure. DRET creates excessive rules which are unhelpful and it simply adds to the out of proportion power dynamic that exists between teachers and students. The DRET logo is slapped onto everything in sight and students are reminded that we must do things ''the DRET way''. Essentially meaning it's their way or the highway. I believe that the school had potential and it was wiped away by the indoctrination of DRET. The staff turnover is high and when new staff join they do not often stay for long (less than a few months). This effects learning as students are sometimes left without a subject teacher and must cope with supply teachers. I advise that you do not send your children to a DRET academy, it's not worth it.
