Steve's team converted our garage to an office early last year - they did it in around a week, and we're really happy with the results.

They turned up when they said they would, listened to our requirements and did a great job.

We painted the room ourselves so don't blame them for that!

Steve Bebb and his team have completed two large projects for us and have done a great job!

Work included a garage conversion with new rubber roof, fitting of new kitchen and laundrette, fitting of 3 bathrooms and a front gable extension with an entire new roof.

Work has been completed to an excellent standard and the entire team are great to work with.

The foreman was really reliable and gave us clear communication all the way through the project on progress. We are so happy with the end result and are very grateful we chose SBBS to do our work.

We would highly recommend them based on the experience we have had.

Thank you so much!

great team of builders, very friendly and respectful of our needs. Worked very professionally and quickly. They always took care to make sure everything was tidied away at the end of each day. They kept us informed of what they were doing each day and which members or trades people would be arriving on which day.
a great company to deal with and would definitely use again on any future projects

The details in this review are based on information provided by skilled trades and building control. I have tried to avoid personal opinion. I have photos and emails to prove what is written.
There have been issues with the work so I’ll list some of the issues as identified by building control and other trades now completing the work
The current plumber has replaced a large percentage of the work completed. Waste pipes in two bathrooms did not fall correctly. The waste pipe taking waste to the outside soil pipe was raised as it exited the house. This caused waste to backfill into the shower tray. The main waste pipe from the basins and shower also leaked. All waste pipes had to be either moved, replaced or repaired.
Pipework for the central heating system was incorrectly installed and it leaked resulting in part of a new floor having to be taken up to locate and repair the leak.
There have been a few issues with the wiring that have needed attention but the most worrying issue was the incorrect sized cable being used to power an electric shower. I have been informed that this posed a serious fire risk because the cable would overheat.
Half of the new windows were incorrectly measured and didn’t fit. Apart from the incorrect sized windows, damage was caused to the building.
The main issue with the kitchen installation was that the kitchen worktop wasn’t level and bowed in the middle.
SBBS supplied ‘multi skilled’ trades to complete construction work on site. It took two weeks to lay approx. 15m of soil pipe and connect it to the existing sewage system. This has been replaced due to the fact it continually blocked. Blockages were caused due to insufficient fall and incorrectly installed inspection chambers and joints. The soil pipework was raised in the middle.
The new builders took 1 ½ days to correctly install a new soil pipe.
While working on the new soil pipe it was found that SBBS had filled a hole in the wall using expanding foam and a coat of render. That has now been sorted using stone and mortar.
SBBS replaced damaged floorboards above the old kitchen. The new floorboards moved when anyone walked on them. The method SBBS used to deal with this was plastic wedges and expanding foam. Building control inspected the work and determined that the method used was not correct and required remedial work to be done.
Stonework and brickwork completed by SBBS was of concern due to the weak mortar mix used especially when used to create load bearing arches. After completing the work the mortar dropped out of joints and crumbled when touched. Most of the work has been re-done or repaired.
A new stud wall created by SBBS bows in the middle
Four new door frames installed by SBBS have been replaced due to them being installed incorrectly. Two of the door frames were secured in place using expanding foam. One of these door frames only had two screws holding the frame in place and would not have taken the weight of a door.
SBBS started various elements of the refurb but never actually finished a single job. I did question the amount being charged for labour by SBBS bearing in mind the lack of progress and the slow rate the work was being completed.
Staff would regularly turn up on site but not have the materials or equipment to complete work. The ‘builders’ also used my personal supply of materials where the materials should have been supplied by them.
I lost all confidence in the ability of SBBS to carry out any work on the property. It has cost a lot of money to put right the work done by SBBS. I had hoped that the work was going to be of the same standard as shown on the company website but unfortunately not. I decided to google search the photographs used on the website with some interesting results.
