I have nothing but good to say about this care home. My mother had the best care I could have wished for. The staff go above and beyond to make sure residents needs are met along with the best care possible. I can’t thank the staff enough. I have no hesitation recommending Briardene to anyone who wants professional ,friendly care for their loved ones.

My mother was in here for awhile infact we thought it was good place .but then noticed she was going down hill fast .they were sedated her .she fell out of bed .they put back into bed .an she fell again same morning.this time got taken to hospital broken hip .but to sedated for hospital to operate on had to wait .we had concerns about her returning here .but she did n that was a mistake.things went down hill fast .kept her in bed .said she wasn't eating no talking.mentioned concerns to staff .only for manger to say I was intimating staff ? I found management here totally out of reach of what actually goes on in this care? Home .my mother was fading fast so after a disagreement with so called manager who talked down to me in my mother's n others presence .I took upon myself to get another care company in to take over my mother care .and the results are brilliant she's up sat everyday she sits feeding herself again and has conversations.no longer crying she's scared and frightened.i for one would never recommend putting a family member in here again.

Very bad experience with this care home . They keep patients in their beds for a long periods of time . After several discussions with the management (Kim) who can’t deal with conversations with family members (puts phone down ) I’m having to write this review whilst a family member is now in hospital with a pneumonia.
There seems to be no support or nothing to help this family member, who’s basically been in bed ( since the day she arrived ) roughly 4 weeks but capable with support to leave the bed with access to a chair which has already been provided.
I’m at my wits end with this whole experience and if I can offer anyone advice it would be not to chose this care home.

My Mam received excellent care from staff at Briardene. I visited a few places before deciding on the right one for her. She went in on an end of life basis but was actually there for 6.5 years. Staff became like family for her. Any niggles she had were dealt with immediately ( for example she was a very fussy eater). She became very poorly twice more whilst in Briardenes care and again was assessed as end of life whilst in hospital. On both occasions she became unresponsive in hospital and I asked for her to be sent back to Briardene [this is not a criticism of the hospital staff). On both occasions she picked up within a day or two. I still pop in now as I recommended Briardene to others I know and everything appears to be the same. The people I know in there appear to be thriving and I will continue to recommend

My Grandma has been here for 18m we are so happy with the care she receives. The staff are warm friendly and super caring. When we visit she is always happy and clearly well cared for.

my gran got taken to Bryadene care home 6 weeks ago after a lengthy stay in the freeman hospital Newcastle. Her discharge goals to be discharged from hospital was to be in a specialist tilt and space chair after a bad stroke, she worked hard daily with physio at the hospital, She was in her specialist chair daily for 12 weeks, getting pushed to cafe, fruit stall, she was managing good, she got discharged to Bryadene care home, to my shock they let her use her chair daily for a week, then some apparent nurse called Natalie said that was the incorrect chair, This confused me as she had been in the chair a lot, and even the hospital had said it was perfect.. Cut a long story short they left my gran in bed for 20days in a row, while the perfect chair sat there. I tried express my concerns, I was crying daily knowing how well she had done in hospital to now being bed bound, I called social services and I will be taking my complaints further, my gran is in hospital now with infections due being left in a bed for 20 days. I called the manager and said she should NEVER of been left in bed for 20days! She wasn’t even bed bound that long after the stroke itself and she had worked to get in that chair but they refused to put her in, but Bryadene care home let her down massively, They claimed the perfect tilt and space chair was incorrect, however the freeman hospital physio and specialists all said it was perfect, Absolutely devastated at her deteriation since she went to that place, If your considering putting anyone you love in this place I strongly recommend you don’t.. I’m still looking to take this higher. Already reported to social services with all the evidence that she was there with the perfect chair…

Such a bad care home, the Worst. I went to visit my nanna, soon as I went in the was a poor lady being pulled along on a comode half naked.. Surely the staff could of covered this poor lady, I’m distraught at some of the things I’ve seen visiting this place, it’s scruffy, and I feel ashamed at myself I never had the ability to take my nanna strait out that place, back in hospital with infection after infection, the poor lady’s and men in there. If your thinking of this place the residents are begging for care of a carless company, I have social services coming to my house for a meeting to take up some of the dreadful things I’ve seen.. THE WORST.

I have worked in this care home for 13 years, I enjoy working here, we have opportunities to progress within the roles and learn throughout the job, also kim chamber is a very good manger, if I need to speak or change things, she's always there with an open door policy, friendly and supportive, Kim has been my manager in a previous home, i was glad to have her as my manager again, I've known Wendy Monty since starting here, she's always there to help and guide us, all staff here are part of a team and we all have a role and help one another, my confidence has grown so much since being here with training and support of others, also it's the people we look after, they are teaching us along the way too and it a lovely place to work and also live in
