I’ve had good experiences at Lexicon House in the past, but my recent appointment on Sunday, 2nd November 2025 with Dr Hardy was the worst I’ve ever been treated. I have Crohn’s disease and was feeling extremely unwell with flu-like symptoms, so NHS 111 booked me an 11:15 a.m. appointment to avoid waiting. Despite this, I waited over 35 minutes while feeling feverish, and in pain.

When I was finally called in, the doctor’s manner was abrupt and unkind. She questioned why I was crying from exhaustion and pain, tutted at me, and repeatedly challenged my answers about my health and medication. When I mentioned I take iron and folic acid, she replied sarcastically, “And you’ve been diagnosed with low iron? With blood tests?” Her tone throughout was dismissive and argumentative.

She told me there was “nothing wrong” with me despite noting that I had a fever, and prescribed antibiotics without explaining why. As someone with Crohn’s, antibiotics can trigger severe flare-ups and should only be used when absolutely necessary, so the lack of explanation was alarming and unacceptable.

I have since made a formal complaint about this appointment. Patients (especially those with chronic health conditions) deserve compassion and basic respect, neither of which I received on this occasion.

This is not GP, but some kind of joke. We were greeted by a doctor in sportswear who kept reading messages on his phone.

My advice is to close this institution if you don't want to and can't help people.

My 3 star review is very much mixed between the fantastic care from the emergency GP who was kind and very thorough and my experience of the front of house staff which was diabolical.
I was trying to get in very faint and in a great deal of pain I faced a very rude security officer who eventually let me in only to be met by the receptionist who was too busy watching YouTube on his phone to even acknowledge my presence, he reluctantly checked me in after putting his phone down, only after me asking if I could check in for a third time! (no queue only me in the entire waiting room)
After sitting down crippled in pain he then put on very loud music from his phone, which was horrific I was in pain and it made the wait almost unbearable.
When I asked him a question re wait time he was again very rude to me as I was distrurbing his Saturday morning Euro pop party! Not what I expect from an emergency care facility!

Spoke to 111 tonight, I have sciatica..badly..the pain is sending my BP sky high, they informed that a GP from Lexicon House would ring me....I then got a txt from these so called GPs saying due to the amount of calls they're receiving, they won't be calling me and closed my case!!! Annoyed is an understatement, well hopefully I won't have a stroke or a heart attack because you are a disgrace..

I have been sent here in the past for my now 3 year old and they have been great. However this time they have cancelled our call back twice (both times having been told by 111 she needs to have the call back) my daughter has a sore throat with swelling that seems to be tonsillitis which she ends up very ill with if she doesn’t get quick treatment. I received this text (names removed) and am made to feel like my daughters health isn’t a priority, I am aware there are people whom are more poorly and do understand they will need treatment first, however I wasn’t expecting a call back straight away, I got told within 6 hours, so was naturally expecting it to be later on they called. The fact that my little girl has been referred to them TWICE by 111 healthcare professionals and has been dismissed as essentially “not worthy of attention” by this “service” is quite frankly disgusting. As I said I didn’t expect a speedy call back, but the fact that we need one (and wouldn’t have been referred if we didn’t) shouldn’t be too much to ask for.

I would like to preface this by saying that I am very grateful for our NHS. I have also had really excellent care here, when my 19-year-old twins were younger.
The only reason I am leaving this review is to provide feedback for the two young doctors that we saw on the weekend at Lexicon house. I am hoping that this will mean that no one else has to suffer in the way that my daughter did.
My 19-year-old daughter had had a very bad sore throat for about a week. It was getting progressively worse, but we both thought it best that she tried to shake it off, before seeking any treatment for it. She was having to take ibuprofen and paracetamol every 4 to 6 hours (even during the night) to stay on top of the pain. The swelling meant that she could no longer eat solid food and when the pain progressed to her ears and jaw, I advised her to call 111.
They sent us to Lexicon house. The first doctor diagnosed a viral upper respiratory tract infection and said that it would go away soon.
When on Sunday, she developed a red spot with a red patch around it at the back of her throat, I advised her to call 111 again. They asked us to come into lexicon house again.
The second doctor, we saw said that she had had tonsillitis in the past (she hasn’t) and assured me that antibiotics wouldn’t help, and that it was just a sore throat.
My daughter did tell him that she was now developing stomach pain and nausea (which we thought was probably from taking ibuprofen for a week on increasingly only fluids as she could no longer tolerate solid foods.
Both doctors had taken her temperature and said it was normal, however, she was taking painkillers regularly and if there were any gaps at night, she woke up sweaty and feverish which she mentioned.
By Tuesday morning, my daughter was in tears with the pain and had not been able to sleep at all because of it, despite taking painkillers regularly. She made an appointment with our GP at Shadwell medical Centre who said that it was tonsillitis and prescribed antibiotics. She said that in her opinion after 5 to 7 days it’s best to prescribe antibiotics to avoid any complications of tonsillitis which can be unpleasant.
Unfortunately, by this point, it was too late and despite taking her first dose of antibiotics, we ended up in A&E for most of the night since her heart rate had elevated to 130 and her blood pressure had dropped very low.
The doctor said it was an atypical tonsillitis and said that, unfortunately the infection had “spread further than we would have liked”
He prescribed more antibiotics and also codeine, which then allowed her to finally sleep again.
Two days later, her face and neck is still very swollen on one side, as you can see from the picture ,and she struggles to move her neck and head. She is still only tolerating liquids and a bit of soft bread due to pain and swelling.
Had she been prescribed antibiotics after a week, she would have been spared so much pain and suffering, and also the disappointment of missing Leedsfest which she spent ÂŁ200 of her hard earned cash on. Leeds fest was going to be the highlight of her summer and was much anticipated as the reunion of lots of friends who are now at different unis around the country.
I am happy to take down this negative review if someone tells me that this information has been passed on to the doctors who saw her.

I have meant to leave this review for a long time, finally got round to it.

We saw a Dr in room 5 i beleive, it would have been the 9th or 10th of January. Our daughter was suffering with a few things and got referred by 111.

The Dr was amazing. He was brilliant with our daughter, very kind and reassuring. The advice he gave was correct and all returned to normal as told.

Best of all he had stickers for children. The only Dr we have ever seen who did (he must have bought them himself as I'm sure the NHS doesn't pay). It made her day.
